    GitHub Rater

    GitHub Rater

Check your GitHub rating, view results and enhance your quality

GitHub Rater is a web application that analyzes a GitHub user’s public profile and computes a composite “rating” or score based on various activity indicators fetched from the GitHub API. It’s designed to help developers assess and improve the quality and completeness of their GitHub presence by highlighting strengths and weaknesses such as follower count, repository descriptions, star counts, and bio information. Users can search for any public GitHub user and receive a breakdown of scores for different aspects of a profile along with suggestions on what improvements could make the profile more effective and appealing. The application’s frontend is built with modern web frameworks and interacts with GitHub’s API to gather real-time data, handling errors and edge cases gracefully. Its interface visualizes metrics and recommendations, making the assessment accessible even to those unfamiliar with raw GitHub statistics.

    GitPrep

    GitPrep

Portable GitHub system into your own server

GitPrep is a lightweight, self-hosted web interface for browsing Git repositories, typically deployed on a single server with minimal dependencies. It implements features like commit history browsing, file viewing and diffing, directory tree navigation, tag/branch switching, and README rendering, much like GitHub’s core UI. Because it’s written in Perl and designed for simplicity, setup is often as easy as cloning, configuring a webroot, and pointing to repositories. Authentication and basic permissions can be configured, allowing private or team usage. Unlike full-featured Git lab or hosting suites, GitPrep focuses on just the browser view of repositories, staying lean and ideal for small teams or personal use. It’s sufficient for code review, history tracing, and lightweight dev workflows when elaborate ticketing or CI integrations aren’t required.

    Gitmal

    Gitmal

A static page generator for repos

Gitmal is a static page generator that turns the contents of a Git repository into a clean, navigable HTML website, making it easier to share or showcase code outside of traditional Git hosting platforms. It reads repository metadata including files, commits, branches, and markdown, and produces a fully static set of pages with syntax-highlighted code, commit history, branch lists, and rendered documentation, so viewers can explore projects as if browsing a lightweight curated site. Designed for simplicity and performance, gitmal can be run locally or via a Docker container, and works across repositories of any size, producing fully self-contained output ready to be deployed to static web hosts. It supports themes and custom styles, allowing creators to personalize the look and feel of the generated site. For developers who want to archive, document, or display their code in a non-interactive context, gitmal provides a straightforward and configurable solution.

    Gitolite

    Gitolite

    Hosting git repositories

Gitolite is a lightweight Git server and access-control system that lets many human users share a single Unix account while enforcing fine-grained permissions. Configuration is “as code”: you manage users’ SSH keys and per-repo rules in a special admin repository, then push to apply changes instantly. Permissions are precise—read, write, or force-push can be allowed or denied per repository, branch, tag, or arbitrary ref patterns—so sensitive branches can be protected. Delegation features let large organizations hand off subsets of administration without giving away global control, and “wild” repositories make self-service project creation possible within policy. Hooks, logging, and auditing are baked in, giving visibility into who pushed what and when. Because it rides on plain SSH and standard Git, it’s fast, portable, and easy to host on anything from a low-power VPS to an enterprise server.

    Gradle Git Version

    Gradle Git Version

A Gradle plugin that uses `git describe` to produce a version string

This Gradle plugin derives your project’s version directly from the state of the Git repository, turning tags and commits into consistent semantic versions. It reads the most recent tag, the number of commits since that tag, and whether the working tree is dirty, then composes a deterministic version string. Teams can enforce patterns (for example, treating non-tagged builds as snapshots) and keep CI builds reproducible without hardcoding versions in build.gradle. The plugin integrates with Gradle’s project.version, so the computed version flows automatically into publishing, packaging, and artifact naming. It works well in branching workflows by incorporating branch or distance information, making debug artifacts easy to trace back to source. By centralizing version logic around Git history, it eliminates manual bumps and reduces mistakes when cutting releases across multiple modules.

    Gradle Libraries Plugin

    Gradle Libraries Plugin

This plugin allows to specify versions of external libraries

This plugin allows to specify versions of external libraries in a centralized place and use them across the project. It's specifically useful for Gradle multi-projects. This plugin also uses com.github.ben-manes.versions plugin to automatically update libraries once new releases are available. Run ./gradlew syncLibraries to create $rootDir/dependencies.json file with all currently known dependencies. Once dependencies.json file is in place by generating via syncLibraries task or just by manually creating it, all declared in dependencies.json libraries can be used in project files. It's not a secret that it's really hard to keep libraries up to date especially when there are dozens and sometimes hundreds of them. For that purpose, this plugin has update libraries task that will automatically check for available new versions of libraries.
