...Your best bet (currently) is to write very plain C code, compile that to .wast and then optimize that result. Then you're ready to compile that into the final WebAssembly binary. Provide a thin layer of syntax sugar on top of .wat text format. Preferably porting as much of JavaScript syntax to WebAssembly as possible. This improved syntax should give direct control over the WebAssembly output. Meaning there should be minimal to none post-optimization to be done to the waste code generated.

WebDjVuTextEd allows to edit the text layer of OCR'ed DjVu documents in a web browser. You can modify the structure (paragraphs, lines, words...) create, delete, edit text nodes, modify their container box by mouse, and run a spellchecker. The program does not directly read the DjVu files, it requires exported XML text data and images. When using without a webserver, you can open and save local files, but cannot take advantages of auto-save and spell checking.

This project final target is to provide a layer of abstraction between Java and modern desktop operationg system (win32,KDE,Gnome). Actually the first phase of this project will be to create a bridge between Java and Win32 automation.
