Monitor CPU load and terminal activity, execute command when idle
The loadavgd program monitors the CPU load and user input at (pseudo-) terminals. It provides a kind of power management for server systems, where keyboard or mouse activity can not be queried. Loadavgd was written because powernap did not work on my system. If the load is below a certain treshold and there is no input at any (pseudo-) terminal for a given amount of time, an action is issued. -

cpulimit is a per-process cpu usage limiter (expressed in percentage, not in cpu time). This is useful to control batch jobs, when you don't want them to eat too much cpu. It is able to adapt itself to the overall system load, dynamically and quickly.
