gdeptrace sorts an input dependancy list or table and prints it, and can do other actions. Etckeeper-ng is a bash script which uses git and rsync awk sed and find to create a backup directory of your /etc linux directory. It is easy to configure. The default configuration should work on most boxes. Just make sure you have git rsync and all the other requirements installed.
