Tool to Compare 2 directories and handle the files.
Did you ever copy many files to a portable usb-harddisk and use another system to update or delete files ? And later have trouble to find the few files you changed among all the others ?
CompareDir does just that: it can compare 2 directories + subdirectories and you decide what files you want to keep, copy or delete.
Manual: point it at a MasterDir, a SlaveDir than
click "Diff" = show only the files that are available in only 1 directory-tree.
Or click "All" = show all files in both...

Linux, Windows and Apple Mac File Hashing GUI Tool
This project has moved to www.quickhash-gui.org as of 2016-12-04. I kept v2.6.9.2 and below hosted here since Dec 16 but too many people were ignoring the fact that no updates were being posted here.
For the latest QuickHash v2.8.4 release (Aug 28th 2017), go to www.quickhash-gui.org, and note that as of 29/12/16 a Debian package is also available
...For example: it can make plain /etc/passwd plain text password file (still) or use shadow - (login.c may do both).
A goal is to be old linux and no "depends problems" (ie, some required pam selinux audit kerb (+nis remove hacks) "to work as intended". These can contact remote computers during login if misconfigured and are complicated to know if secure.
gnupasswd has none of these (gnu has NIS, off by default)
gdeptrace dependancy solver correct for pkg or make deps
gdeptrace sorts an input dependancy list or table and prints it, and can do other actions. It's default operation is to act like tsort (1) except that it sorts by pure pkg / make dependancy (tsort sorts by grapical topology: see notes about differences).
EXAMPLE:
$ echo -e "b e\ne\nc b" | sort -k1,1 | gdeptrace [opts]
e
b
c
(b depends on e, c depends on b, e has no depends)
(also: e has more items depending on it and is below anything it depends on; in this case...
