    btrbk

    btrbk

Tool for creating snapshots and remote backups of btrfs subvolumes

...A declarative configuration describes sources, targets, and retention policies (hourly/daily/weekly/monthly), and btrbk enforces pruning so backup stores don’t grow without bound. The tool supports hierarchical setups—many subvolumes to many destinations—and can throttle, pre/post-hook, and verify operations for reliability. Because it uses native Btrfs primitives, restores are fast and space-efficient, and replicas can be mounted instantly for inspection. Clear logging and dry-run modes make it safe to adopt in production while giving operators visibility into every snapshot and transfer.

    check_backuppc_shares

    Another Nagios plugin for BackupPC

This bash-script checks that backups are not too old, that the last backup had no errors, that all shares and subshares exist in the data root directory, etc. This plugin and the "check_backuppc" check sligtly different things, and in different was. You can use both... Tested on: BackupPC 3.2.1 / Ubuntu 12.04 Should work in most similar systems i think. Let me know otherwise (create a ticket!). Installation is easy: Just put the check-script inyour nagios server, and the other (included) script somewhere so that the check-script can find it (e.g. in the $PATH, or edit the check script for a custom location).

    mdbackup

Fully automated backups to zfs backup hosts

...Another script renames snaps to preserve them as monthlies or annuals and another script purges the remainder of snaps based on a retention policy defined in that severs configuration file, normally 21 nighties, 12 monthly and 7 annuals. It all runs from cronies. It does lots of nice logging and error checking and has nice health check scripts which can be used to integrate this with nagios. it's reasonably mature and stable, I rewrote if from bash to perl a year ago, but in concept it's been running g for 5 years ago, I started it using solaris express developers edition, zfs v10. I have 4 servers running mdbackup and I manage it all using subversion. As for releasing it into the wild I'm happy do do that, but there are
