    Xplorer

    Xplorer

Xplorer, a customizable, modern file manager

Xplorer is a modern, cross-platform file manager built from the ground up to meet contemporary file-browsing needs across Windows, macOS, and Linux. Rather than relying on heavy, traditional desktop frameworks, Xplorer uses a hybrid architecture: a web-based frontend (TypeScript + SCSS/HTML) for UI, combined with a backend implemented in Rust to handle file operations, which keeps the application lightweight, memory-efficient, and faster to start. It supports multiple tabs, allowing users to open and manage many directories simultaneously. A key strength is built-in file preview: beyond just listing files, Xplorer lets you preview many file types directly (images, text files with syntax highlighting, and even video preview for supported formats), saving the extra step of opening external viewers. The design emphasizes customization: users can choose themes, customize layouts (grid or detail view), pin favorites in a sidebar, and tailor the experience to their workflow.

    gdown

    gdown

Google Drive public file downloader when curl/wget fails

gdown is a Python downloader designed for public Google Drive files and folders that ordinary curl or wget commands may not retrieve correctly. It handles Drive confirmation pages and extracts file identifiers from several common share-link formats. Users can download individual files, recursively copy folders, choose output paths, or inspect resolved names as JSON. Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides can be exported to formats such as DOCX, XLSX, PPTX, PDF, and CSV. Interrupted transfers can resume, while optional controls limit speed, route traffic through a proxy, adjust certificates, or change cookies and user agents. The tool also downloads regular HTTP and HTTPS URLs and can stream data to standard output. It is available as both a command-line program and a Python package.

    h5ai

    h5ai

HTTP web server index for Apache httpd, lighttpd and nginx

h5ai is a modern file indexer for HTTP web servers with a focus on your files. Directories are displayed in an appealing way and browsing them is enhanced by different views, a breadcrumb and a tree overview. Initially, h5ai was an acronym for HTML5 Apache Index but now it supports other web servers too. Requires PHP 7.0+ and works fine with Apache httpd, lighttpd and nginx. Best user experience with the latest versions of Chromium-based browsers, Firefox, Safari and Edge, but a static fallback is provided for older browsers or if JavaScript is disabled.

    superfile

    superfile

Pretty fancy and modern terminal file manager

Superfile is a modern terminal file manager written in Go for users who want a visual interface without leaving the command line. It provides keyboard-driven navigation and common file operations through a polished text-based interface. Configuration files let users customize behavior, layouts, and shortcuts, including a Vim-oriented hotkey preset. A theme system changes the application's appearance, while plugins extend its built-in capabilities. Superfile includes image and file previews and can notify users when a newer release is available. Installation options include shell scripts, Winget, Scoop, and builds from source. Linux and macOS are supported, while Windows support is available but still described as incomplete.

    Eagle Mode

    Eagle Mode

Zoomable user interface (ZUI) with file manager, file viewers and more

Eagle Mode is a zoomable user interface (ZUI) with file manager, file viewers, games, and more. This project is about a futuristic style of human-computer interaction, where the user can visit almost everything simply by zooming in. It features a portable C++ toolkit API for developing such ZUIs, and it features the Eagle Mode application, which provides a virtual cosmos with plugin applications. The most important one is the professional file manager with its rich, scriptable command set. It integrates file viewers for most of the common file types, as well as an audio and video player. Furthermore, the virtual cosmos contains a chess game, a netwalk game, a 3D minesweeper game, a multi-function clock, a stock watchlist, some fractals, and a Linux kernel configurator in form of a kernel patch.

    BFG Repo-Cleaner

    BFG Repo-Cleaner

    Remove large or troublesome blobs

The BFG is a simpler, faster alternative to git-filter-branch for cleansing bad data out of your Git repository history. You can use it for removing crazy big files, and for removing passwords, credentials and other private data. The git-filter-branch command is enormously powerful and can do things that the BFG can't, but the BFG is much better for the tasks above, because is faster and simpler. The BFG isn't particularily clever, but is focused on making the above tasks easy. If you need to, you can use the beautiful Scala language to customize the BFG. Which has got to be better than Bash scripting at least some of the time. The BFG will update your commits and all branches and tags so they are clean, but it doesn't physically delete the unwanted stuff. Examine the repo to make sure your history has been updated, and then use the standard git gc command to strip out the unwanted dirty data.

    btrbk

    btrbk

Tool for creating snapshots and remote backups of btrfs subvolumes

btrbk is a snapshotting and backup tool tailored for Btrfs that automates consistent, incremental backups using btrfs send/receive. It creates atomic snapshots of subvolumes, then efficiently transfers only changed blocks to local or remote targets over SSH. A declarative configuration describes sources, targets, and retention policies (hourly/daily/weekly/monthly), and btrbk enforces pruning so backup stores don’t grow without bound. The tool supports hierarchical setups—many subvolumes to many destinations—and can throttle, pre/post-hook, and verify operations for reliability. Because it uses native Btrfs primitives, restores are fast and space-efficient, and replicas can be mounted instantly for inspection. Clear logging and dry-run modes make it safe to adopt in production while giving operators visibility into every snapshot and transfer.
