This is a student project designed to compete in the 2010 IEEE Computer Society Student Competition: http://www.computer.org/portal/web/competition/2010competition The Code Red architecture is designed for extremely lower power environments, like distributed sensor networks. Included is a design of that architecture, a Java-based simulator, an implementation (without vector instructions) designed as a Logisim circuit (http://ozark.hendrix.edu/~burch/logisim/), and more. The name "Code Red" comes from our team name, the Red Team. Since the competition dictated a small team size, our professor split the class and gave each group a color. We liked the name "Code Red" and chose it to represent our team and school's color (UMass' official color is Maroon.) Only later did we realize that "Code Red" was the name of an unrelated computer worm from 2001.

MINIMON is a Machine Language Monitor for the Commodore VIC-20. It is a combined hardware/software project: a cartridge for the computer's expansion port (with a cartridge extender for a secondary cartridge), plus firmware, which is the actual MINIMON monitor. MINIMON features all commands usually expected from a debugger/monitor: Memory dump and edit, Register dump and edit, Execute code from monitor, Direct Assembler and Disassembler (all documented opcodes of the NMOS 6502), Transfer/Compare/Fill/Hunt in memory blocks, Use of breakpoints with the BRK instruction, Load/Save/Verify with any storage device. The cartridge hardware expands upon the firmware features by supplying a de-multiplexer for the $9800..$9FFF I/Ox area (where the firmware is located per default) and a versatile reset button (with autostart inhibit for secondary cartridges). liblzg is a minimal implementation of an LZ77 class compression library. The main characteristic of the library is that the decoding routine is very simple, fast and requires no memory.

pFFh is a programming language that allows you to launch applications on embedded systems safely, quickly and comfortably. pFFh runs on the target system, combining operation as a command interpreter and code compiler. We can say that pFFh behaves like an operating system on the board under development. All pFFh needs is a serial or USB-serial channel to communicate, and through it, receive and process console commands, either from a keyboard or from files sent from a desktop computer. At present, pFFh is implemented for the PIC18FxxQ4x/Q7x family of microcontrollers. The code has been run and tested on the PIC18F16Q40, PIC18F16Q41, PIC18F57Q43 and PC18F56Q71 "Curiosity Nano” boards.
