    reproc

    reproc

    A cross-platform (C99/C++11) process library

    ...The main use case is executing command line applications directly from C or C++ code and retrieving their output. reproc consists out of two libraries: reproc and reproc++. reproc is a C99 library that contains the actual code for working with external programs. reproc++ depends on reproc and adapts its API to an idiomatic C++11 API. It also adds a few extras that simplify working with external programs from C++.

    Expat

    Expat

    Fast streaming XML parser written in C99 with >90% test coverage

    ...Expat excels with files too large to fit RAM, and where performance and flexibility are crucial. There are a number of applications, libraries, and hardware using Expat, as well as bindings and 3rd-party wrappers. Expat is packaged everywhere. This is Expat, a C99 library for parsing XML 1.0 Fourth Edition, started by James Clark in 1997. Expat is a stream-oriented XML parser. This means that you register handlers with the parser before starting the parse. These handlers are called when the parser discovers the associated structures in the document being parsed. A start tag is an example of the kind of structure for which you may register handlers.

    CPU Features

    CPU Features

    A cross platform C99 library to get cpu features at runtime

    ...The library supports numerous architectures—including x86, ARM, AArch64, MIPS, POWER, RISCV, LoongArch, and s390x—and works on major operating systems like Linux, macOS, Windows, FreeBSD, Android, and iOS. Implemented in portable C99, it is thread-safe, has no memory allocations, and raises no exceptions, making it suitable even for use in low-level system libraries. The design emphasizes portability, extensibility, and compatibility with sandboxed or restricted environments where direct CPU access may be limited.

    sj.h

    sj.h

    A tiny little JSON parsing library

    sj.h is a tiny JSON parsing library written in C99 for developers who want a minimal, allocation-free way to walk through JSON data. It is intentionally small, around a few hundred lines or less depending on how it is counted, and keeps state minimal so it can fit into constrained environments. The library does not try to own every part of JSON handling; instead, it leaves number conversion and string interpretation to the user.

    Criterion

    Criterion

    A cross-platform C and C++ unit testing framework for the 21st century

    Most test frameworks for C require a lot of boilerplate code to set up tests and test suites -- you need to create a main, then register new test suites, then register the tests within these suites, and finally call the right functions. This gives the user great control, at the unfortunate cost of simplicity. Criterion follows the KISS principle, while keeping the control the user would have with other frameworks. Supports parameterized tests and theories. Progress and statistics can be...

    Making multi-player game dev simpler since 2017. Single-header cross-platform world replication in pure C99. librg is a lightweight library that serves as a middleware between data-transferring libraries (networking, file-streaming, etc.) and core application/game logic. The library was born to solve the complexities of setting up and managing the flow of multi-player games and dedicated game servers. It came a long way in stripping out things that were non-essential, slowly sculpting into its current form, which you are able to see and use today. ...

    Smaller C

    Smaller C

    Simple C compiler

    Smaller C is a simple and small single-pass C compiler, currently supporting most of the C language common between C89/ANSI C and C99 (minus some C89 and plus some C99 features). Currently, it generates 16-bit and 32-bit 80386+ assembly code for NASM that can then be assembled and linked into DOS, Windows, Linux and Mac OS X programs. (You may use YASM or FASM instead of NASM) Code generation for MIPS CPUs is also supported (primarily for RetroBSD). The compiler is capable of compiling itself. ...

    Fenster

    The most minimal cross-platform GUI library

    Fenster is a minimal, highly opinionated library for creating cross-platform 2D graphical applications. Its core implementation is a single C99 header of roughly 300 lines, making the code easy to inspect and modify. It opens one titled window and exposes a simple 24-bit RGB framebuffer for direct pixel drawing. Keyboard events, mouse coordinates, clicks, timing, application lifecycle, and system events are handled through a polling API. The same interface also provides audio playback through WinMM on Windows, CoreAudio on macOS, and ALSA on Linux. ...

    Extended C Library

    Extended C Library

    Why Is libxc needed? There doesn't exist a library for ANSI C99 for common data containers, such as vectors, trees, etc. There also also doesn't exist a library for common functionality, such as error reporting/logging, string functions, configuration management (reading config files), etc... The programmer working in C doesn't have anything analogous to the Boost C++ library. The extended C library is intended to make some headway into providing this functionality.
