...RickyD uses xml extensively to configure all aspects of the game, from objects to tiles and sound, maps are also written in xml, so they can be easily edited. Creating completely new maps is very easy, just create a new tileset and use a tool like tiled to put everything together. RickyD uses the brand new SDL 2.0 and the matching libraries SDL2_image, SDL2_mixer and SDL2_ttf.

This project is an attempt to create a side-scrolling game on which multitudes of contributors can freely expand and enhance. We hope to see submissions of graphics, sprites, level designs, storylines, everything down to the fundamental mechanics of the game. And we hope that a rating system will help the best of the best evolve out of this project, generating an ever-growing and improving massive 2D game. The game runs in an HTML5-capable browser, so it's very easily accessible to a range of platforms. The "iota" in the title suggests that even small contributions from a large quantity of players can come together to make something great. ...
