Eagle Mode is a zoomable user interface (ZUI) with file manager, file viewers, games, and more. This project is about a futuristic style of human-computer interaction, where the user can visit almost everything simply by zooming in. It features a portable C++ toolkit API for developing such ZUIs, and it features the Eagle Mode application, which provides a virtual cosmos with plugin applications. The most important one is the professional file manager with its rich, scriptable command...

OSGeoLive is a self-contained bootable DVD, USB thumb drive or Virtual Machine based on Lubuntu that allows you to try a wide variety of open source geospatial software without installing anything. It is composed entirely of free software, allowing it to be freely distributed, duplicated and passed around. It provides pre-configured applications for a range of geospatial use cases, including storage, publishing, viewing, analysis and manipulation of data.

...https://www.atgclabs.com/products/fw Freezer Web Access is a user friendly program designed to assist researchers with establishing an efficient system for storing frozen biological samples. FWA can track all of your research, development and process scale-up data in a single data storage platform, providing a organized and time effective means of keeping inventory and tracking samples on a large scale, while integrating sample storage and data storage on one easy-to-use format, minimizing confusion and increasing overall efficiency. With FWA, storage of samples is simple and systematic by entering them into the program according to their physical arrangements we create virtual containers matching these configurations and dimensions.

Convert user-saved tracks from GPS-Tracks for iPhone to KML files for Google Earth. The GPS-Tracks iPhone application is available from the App Store or from http://www.gps-tracks.com . It can save recorded GPS tracks to the iPhone storage. This little Java applet provides the functionality to convert these saved tracks to KML files, for use with Google earth. Under Windows, it uses the synced files from the iTunes phone files backup, and extracts the tracks from there. Under Linux, it uses the virtual file system provided by libgpod (which provides an iPhone-gvfs-bridge) and gvfs-fuse (which offers gvfs virtual filesystems as Linux FUSE filesystems). ...

Index biological data (genbank sheets, Uniprot...) in a Solr indexer, with index shard support and provides a query interface. Project goal is to create a virtual image with indexer and web interface to query and visualize biological data.

Virtual telescope written in Java for mobile phones. Uses CLDC1.1 and MIDP2.0. Tested on mobile phone with 2MB RAM and 60MB storage. The largest catalog uses TYCHO2(2.5M stars) and NGC+ IC(13k DSO) .Sky plotted in dark red. Has desktop version also.

The OS561 operating system based around FORTH/Java. The OS is to run on a VHDL chip OpenHardware design called the Minon, but could become available for other platforms. The unique point of the design is a revolutionary data compression technology.
