OpenSQUID is a Python framework for the control of SQUID (superconducting quantum interference device) readout electronics. It currently supports the Star Cryoelectronics PCI-1000 electronics with PFL-100 and PFL-102 flux-locked loops. Simultaneous operation of both PFL-100s and PFL-102s from a single PCI-1000 is supported. More features are under development. The software is implemented in Python and aims to be easily integrated with user-defined measurement and control code.

The collection MICROMECHANICS (micromechanics.zip) includes: (1) lecture notes (microbook.pdf) on the analysis of heterogeneous materials and homogenization, and (2) source codes (microcode.tar.bz2) that accompany the computational exercises in Part II of the notes. Instructions on using the codes are given in the README file of each exercise. Further instructions can be found in the file microcode.tar.bz2. The MATLAB codes are used for visualization, evaluating analytical bounds and estimates as well as in the generation of digital and particulate microstructures. The Fortran codes are based on the finite element method in linear and nonlinear settings, the latter capable of finite deformations with damage. Generate large text files with dummy data (i.e. for performance testing an app that needs to read a file). This is a console app. It allows to generate large files (you can specify the size in megabytes). There is a template which you can set to define how a single line should look like, e.g. you can make a CSV file from it. This can contain random words, random numbers and sequential numbers. It has a dictionary of English words which you can replace with your own set. You can make them repeat occasionally.

We needed a datalogger, we found one. But the supplied VB6 program was very crappy, _really_ unusable, even on old XP machines. So I did mine, able to run under windows and linux. All the fun was to reverse the (binary) RS232 protocol. Our is a YC-727D with 2 thermocouple inputs, but the protocol is the same for 1, 2, 3 or 4 inputs models (YC-717, YC-727, YC-737, YC-747). Bytes orders needs to be checked for 3th and 4nd channels tough.

Composight is a cross-platform toolkit for 3D-image processing in the domain of composite materials science. It is written in C++ and provides small, problem-specific applications for viewing, filtering and segmentation of volumetric data such as micro-CT scans. The main objective is not to provide yet another complex application for volume data visualization and medical image processing. Instead, Composight is a collection of small and simple apps that have already been successfully used to solve various problems in materials science.

An R package for metrology. metRology provides classes and calculation and plotting functions for metrology applications, including measurement uncertainty estimation and (eventually) inter-laboratory metrology comparison studies.
