EclEmma is a free Java code coverage tool for Eclipse, available under the Eclipse Public License. It brings code coverage analysis directly into the Eclipse workbench. The EclEmma project is also the home of the JaCoCo code coverage library which is the technical back-end for EclEmma and also has integrations with many other build and software quality tools.

Metrics is a Java library which gives you unparalleled insight into what your code does in production. Metrics provides a powerful toolkit of ways to measure the behavior of critical components in your production environment. With modules for common libraries like Jetty, Logback, Log4j, Apache HttpClient, Ehcache, JDBI, Jersey and reporting backends like Graphite, Metrics provides you with full-stack visibility. The central library for Metrics is metrics-core, which provides some basic functionality. The starting point for Metrics is the MetricRegistry class, which is a collection of all the metrics for your application (or a subset of your application). Each metric is associated with a MetricRegistry, and has a unique name within that registry. A gauge is the simplest metric type. It just returns a value. If, for example, your application has a value which is maintained by a third-party library, you can easily expose it by registering a Gauge instance which returns that value.

The Eclipse Checkstyle plug-in integrates the Checkstyle Java code auditor into the Eclipse IDE. The plug-in provides real-time feedback to the user about violations of rules that check for coding style and possible error prone code constructs.

JTrac is a generic issue-tracking web-application that can be easily customized by adding custom fields and drop-downs. Features include a customizable workflow, field level permissions, e-mail integration, file attachments, a detailed history view and changeable colors to fit a particular CI/CD. After a long hiatus, development has resumed with version 2.2.0 in December 2021, 2.2.1 in February 2022, 2.3.0 in February 2023, 2.3.1 in May 2023, 2.3.2 in July 2023 and 2.3.3 in June 2024. Marathon provides an integrated environment for test script creation and execution. Supported FW: Web, Java Swing/ Java FX. Currently, Marathon supports JRuby script models for recording the test scripts.Marathon test runner generates Allure test reports.Marathon allows for grouping of test cases.It also has an option of inserting modules while recording(in MarathonITE while recording). It allows tester to inset checklist while recording and also takes screen capture and annotate it in playing the test cases. Extraction of code into modules and inserting it is very easy using marathon.It has different themes of UI which attracts tester to do work on it. Object mapping is quite simple and configuring is very easy for tester to understand and do the work. Debugging of test scripts is also easy and has script console which takes selenium commands. Slow play of test cases is also available.It allows to create multiple fixtures for different types of tests.

This benchmark suite is intend as a tool for the research community. It consists of a set of open source, real world applications with non-trivial memory loads.

Cobertura is a free Java tool that calculates the percentage of code accessed by tests. It can be used to identify which parts of your Java program are lacking test coverage. It is based on jcoverage.

Priorty Estimation Tool (PriEsT) is a decision analysis tool. You can use it for ranking the options you have, or alternatively, you may use it for resource allocation (budgeting) problems. In PriEsT, you enter a list of available options and then define your criteria for prioritization. After defining criteria, PriEsT allows you to enter your judgements against each criterion, which are then used to calculate the final ranking (or weights). Performance test engine written in Java and exposed as a fluent API for writing JUnit tests. Perftence can also be used without JUnit by using perftence-api distribution package. Full test results are provided in html, which can published directly with different CI's (e.g. Jenkins/Hudson). Runtime test statistics are also provided through logging (e.g. using slf4j-log4j and log4j). Pertence tool can also be used for finding out threading issues. Just write a test that uses the component you need to test for threading issues and assign load of threads to the test. Thanks to my employer (Nokia) for letting me publish the initial version of this tool as open-source!

CCCC is a tool which analyzes C++ and Java files and generates a report on various metrics of the code. Metrics supported include lines of code, McCabe's complexity and metrics proposed by Chidamber&Kemerer and Henry&Kafura.

Yasca is an open source program which looks for security vulnerabilities, code-quality, performance, and conformance to best practices in program source code, integrating with other open-source tools as needed. UCDetector (Unnecessary Code Detector) is a Open Source Eclipse Plugin Tool. UCDetector finds unnecessary (dead) public Java code. It suggests to make code final, protected or private.

EMMA is a fast Java code coverage tool based on bytecode instrumentation. It differs from the existing tools by enabling coverage profiling on large scale enterprise software projects with simultaneous emphasis on fast individual development.

CodeCover is a free glass box testing tool that measures statement, branch, loop, MC/DC, ?-operator, and sync- coverage. CodeCover supports coverage reports per each test case. Available languages: Java and COBOL.

JPdfUnit integrates PDFBox as an PDF API with the JUnit framwork for the test of pdf documents so JPdfUnit is a high level api. Simple ready-to-use assertions help to compare the expected data to the concrete data of the pdf document. Please note that this project is not actively maintained at the moment.

Java Cobol Lexer take a cobol source program and return it as a list of lexical tokens. Library takes source code in fixed, free and mixed formats. It recognizes standard Cobol 85.

JUnitDoclet makes the process of testing software easier by offering a convenient way to create, organize, and maintain JUnit tests. JUnitDoclet Eclipse Plugin leverages this tool thanks to Eclipse APIs and UI functionnalities.

UnitTH is a tool/Jenkins plugin for generating a test history overview for the purpose of identifying problematic and unstable test cases. The Jenkins plugin version generates a spread/matrix from the test cases that have failed in the Jenkins job history to give an overview of sporadic failures. Using the stand alone tool a set of HTML test history pages will be generated from JUnit test results. The test history displays various different sortable test statistics, trends, graphs and references to the included JUnit test reports.

A project to develop Java-based front-ends to the utPLSQL testing framework. This includes integration with JUnit, Ant and Cruise Control. We are working to release code soon (written September 2004).
