Scoop «Extras» is the community-maintained bucket of additional manifests for Scoop, the popular Windows command-line installer; it contains packages and app manifests that don’t fit the stricter criteria of the main Scoop bucket. The repository is organized as a large collection of individual manifest files, helper scripts, and tooling to validate and publish new manifests, and it’s intended so users can extend Scoop with many community-contributed applications. Installation is straightforward for Scoop users: add the bucket with scoop bucket add extras and then install any manifest with scoop install <manifest>, making it quick to access a wide range of Windows command-line and GUI tools. The Extras bucket is actively maintained by a large contributor community, carries thousands of commits and many contributors, and uses an Unlicense license so manifests are easy to reuse. -

Terminal-Icons is a PowerShell module that adds file and folder icons when displaying items in the terminal. This relies on the custom fonts provided by Nerd Fonts. It uses a custom format.ps1xml file that inspects the items being displayed and looks up their appropriate icon based on name or extension. Icons for well-known files/folders are attempted to be used first before displaying an icon based on the file extension. Any files/folders that are not matched are shown using a generic file or folder icon. You must be using one of the fonts provided by Nerd Fonts for this module to work as these fonts include tons of custom glyphs/icons that are referenced by their unicode number. If using the default console in Windows and not something like VSCode, ConEmu, Terminus, etc., you may have issues getting a nerd font to be recognized correctly. -

Instance migrations and best practice implementations have never been safer, faster or freer. dbatools is PowerShell module that you may think of like a command-line SQL Server Management Studio. The project initially started out as just Start-SqlMigration.ps1, but has now grown into a collection of over 500 commands that help automate SQL Server tasks and encourage best practices. dbatools now works on PowerShell Core (aka PowerShell 6+). This means that you can run a large majority of our commands on Linux and macOS. In addition to the simple things you can do in SSMS (e.g. starting a job, backing up a database), we've also read a whole bunch of docs and came up with commands that do nifty things quickly. By default, all SQL-based commands will login to SQL Server using Trusted/Windows Authentication. -
