    PROPER Optical Propagation Library

    Routines for wavefront propagation in IDL, Matlab, and Python

    PROPER is a library of routines for the propagation of wavefronts through an optical system using Fourier-based methods. It was developed at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory for modeling stellar coronagraphs, but it can be applied to other optical systems were diffraction propagation is of concern. It is currently available for IDL (Interactive Data Language), Matlab and Python (3.x). It includes routines for generating complex apertures and obscurations and aberrations (Zernike & PSD-defined). It includes a model of a deformable mirror for wavefront control. The routines perform near and far field propagation with automatic selection of propagators. The latest version is v3.31 released on 12 Nov 2024. Please report any bugs using the Tickets tab.

    Dynamics of quantum systems, controlled by external fields

    WavePacket is a program package for numerical simulation of quantum-mechanical wavepacket dynamics of distinguishable particles. It can be used to solve single or coupled time-independent or time-dependent (linear) Schrödinger and Liouville-von Neumann-equations, partly also classical or quantum-classical Liouville equations. Optionally accounting for the interaction with external electric fields within the semiclassical dipole approximation, WavePacket can be used to simulate modern experiments involving ultrashort light pulses in photo-induced physics or chemistry, including quantum optimal control. Allowing for visualization of dynamics 'on the fly', WavePacket is easy to use . First established in 2004, the present Matlab version is in a stable, mature state. Further development mainly by Burkhard Schmidt at WIAS and FU Berlin.     Modal Interferometer Simulation Tool (MIST) is a MATLAB toolbox that can simulate arbitrary resonant optical systems in the paraxial beam approximation. It allows the user to define any optical setup (composed typically of laser sources, mirrors, lenses, electro-optical modulators and detectors) and to compute the static laser field at any point. It uses a Hermite-Gauss modal decomposition to simulate diffraction limited optics. This tool is being developed mainly for simulation of large scale interferometers with resonant cavities used for the detection of gravitational waves.     Optimizer_sovkov

    Constructing and optimizing general mathematical and physical models

    We present the package Optimizer, aimed at constructing and optimizing general mathematical models of phenomena of versatile nature. It is written in the Matlab algorithmic language and is executed in the Matlab environment with partial functionality in Octave. The convenient visual interface and the detailed manuals are provided. The main benefit of the package is its capability to construct models of any level of complexity in a block-by-block manner. Elementary model blocks can be collected in libraries, and we have already written many such library programs. Many of these programs are already available along with the main package. Currently, the main focus of these is computational quantum mechanics, analysis and simulation of molecular spectra, and general-purpose approximants. The package provides the most reliable modern strategies for linear and non-linear model optimization, regularization, and hypothesis tests. Parallel computing is supported.

    Ultrashort Pulse Propagator

    A powerful simulation for designing femtosecond lasers and amplifiers.

    This is a simulation package developed for numerical simulation of ultrashort pulse propagation in optical media and pulse generation from mode-locked lasers. Although the code is primarily intended for investigations of fiber links, fiber amplifiers and fiber lasers, it can be applied to any other setting for which the governing equiations are valid. The physics included in the code is based on a generalized nonlinear Schrödinger equation, including higher order dispersion, stimulated Raman effect, gain with bandwidth limitation and saturation, loss, and saturable absorption.
