Open Source TypeScript PDF Readers

OpenTheBook is a free, lightweight desktop reader for PDF, EPUB, AZW3, and MOBI files. It is intentionally not a book library: install it, double-click a book, and read. No account, no clutter, no cost. First release targets Windows and Ubuntu/Linux.

Thorium Reader is a free, open-source desktop application designed for accessible digital reading and e-book management. Built on the Readium Desktop toolkit, it supports EPUB publications and other digital reading formats. Users can import books from local directories or online catalogs using OPDS feeds. The application provides customizable reading layouts, typography adjustments, bookmarks, and navigation through tables of contents. Accessibility is a central priority, with support for screen readers such as NVDA, JAWS, and Narrator. Thorium Reader also supports publications protected with Readium LCP and includes multilingual interface localization. Available for Windows, macOS, and Linux, it delivers an advertisement-free reading experience without collecting personal reading data.
