    Uplos

    Uplos

linux 32bit old hardware opensource developement retro rpm pclinuxos

Following to the end of the 32bit version of PCLinuxOS, a consistent number of users have lost an important possibility to keep their machines on work.Old hardware often doesn’t support 64bit, often cannot face a complete reinstallation for any reason, surely a 64bit system is heavier than the correspondent 32bit.Therefore, once acknowledged what was going to happen, a (very, very) small group of alleged developers started the present project in order to maintain alive that distro. They had to save the last updated repo, to improve what happened thereafter in the 64bit version and to recompile that in 32bit.So said it doesn’t look hard but when recompiling is made on several hundreds of packages by 2 or 3 persons of goodwill, it becomes a considerable job.A job that doesn’t finish because a very strenght of pclos is in being a rolling distribution and Uplos aspires as well to be ever on progress.Since we have a special consideration for old hardware,we started with light DE.

    Whonix

    Whonix

Whonix is an Anonymous Operating System.

THIS IS NOT WHONIX'S HOMEPAGE. Please go to: https://www.whonix.org/ (This is only Whonix's sourceforge must-have project page.) Whonix is an operating system focused on anonymity, privacy and security. It's based on the Tor anonymity network, Debian GNU/Linux and security by isolation. DNS leaks are impossible, and not even malware with root privileges can find out the user's real IP. Whonix consists of two parts: One solely runs Tor and acts as a gateway, which we call Whonix-Gateway. The other, which we call Whonix-Workstation, is on a completely isolated network. Only connections through Tor are possible. Whonix is produced independently of, and carries no guarantee from, The Tor Project. For download: https://www.whonix.org/wiki/Download

Currently we only support Android 4.4 Kitkat 64bit distribution. Instructons on how to create the image yourself: http://thisismyeye.blogspot.co.uk/2014/04/enabling-virtio-drivers-on-kernel-for.html This image is not perfect yet. Contributors are welcome! This work is done by Chathura Madhusanka Sarathchandra Magurawalage as a part of his research activities at Network Convergence Laboratory (NCL), University Of Essex Related Research Projects: *EU-funded FP7 Project MONICA (Mobile Cloud Computing: Networks, Services and Architecture). *EU-funded FP7 Project CLIMBER (Cross-Layer Investigation and Integration of Computing and Networking Aspects of Mobile Social Networks). *EU-funded FP7 Project EVANS (End-to-end Virtual Resource Management..)

    bob-project

Quick, simple, intuitive, powerul UNIX system management solution.

Bob is a system management / configuration tool. It can be used as disaster recovery, and had been designed to support multiple sites / environments with thousands of servers. Bob is secure, quick, and simple. Managing IT infrastructure should not be a chore. Recent system management tools have been built around using cfengine or ruby. Why should a system administrator have to be a developer? Why do they need to learn a new language? Operating systems have already solved this problem, it's called file system. In UNIX everything is a file. If you can use an editor, you already know bob. Yes, it is that simple. Why bob? Because it's Bob The Builder - yes we can!

    dep-trace

gdeptrace dependancy solver correct for pkg or make deps

gdeptrace sorts an input dependancy list or table and prints it, and can do other actions. It's default operation is to act like tsort (1) except that it sorts by pure pkg / make dependancy (tsort sorts by grapical topology: see notes about differences). EXAMPLE: $ echo -e "b e\ne\nc b" | sort -k1,1 | gdeptrace [opts] e b c (b depends on e, c depends on b, e has no depends) (also: e has more items depending on it and is below anything it depends on; in this case the top, all and only by the rules known and given, in order by given where equal) $ echo -e "b e\ne\nc b" | depsort ditto, no opts needed $ libdeps objdump /lib/*.so.* (outputs if missing, load order (deps), rdeps, which are effected by missing lib/s, etc, see readme) $ doil (a package installer/solver like apt-get+dpkg which uses gdeptrace, see doil on Source Forge) dep-trace is now "gdeptrace" to ease packaging compatibility

    dpkg_mini

dpkg mini allot of dpkg in 2 page script (any linux)

dpkg_mini is a very compact script that does some useful actions upon debian archive files. dpkg_mini [install remove skel implode explode control list depends check configure] file(s).deb [dir] works in any linux with ar(1) tar(1), dpkg is not required of course is not a substitute for dpkg(8). ie, install and skel work outside of and independantly from the dpkg system. however for checking out .deb or testing or avoiding force it's a neat little tool ! see man dpkg_mini(1) despite the "quick release" not saying so, yes it is public domain
