Model weights for the chosen language will be automatically downloaded or you can download them manually from the model hub. The idea is to be able to plug-in any state-of-the-art model into EasyOCR. There are a lot of geniuses trying to make better detection/recognition models, but we are not trying to be geniuses here. We just want to make their works quickly accessible to the public.

Download high-resolution PDFs and split pages into images. Manually lay a grid on top of each page to generate bounding boxes for characters (potentially replaceable by an automatic corner-detection algorithm). Generate a low-poly mask for each character on the grid, and save the thumbnails (using OpenCV). Paperless is a simple Django application running in two parts, a Consumer (the thing that does the indexing) and a Web server (the part that lets you search & download already-indexed documents). Paper is a nightmare. Environmental issues aside, there’s no excuse for it in the 21st century. It takes up space, collects dust, doesn’t support any form of a search feature, indexing is tedious, it’s heavy and prone to damage & loss. I wrote this to make “going paperless” easier.
