...Executable available here is for winXP or higher. but you can convert it to c# <http://www.developerfusion.com/tools/convert/vb-to-csharp/> or run on linux using mono (it is tested for mono compilation here <http://www.tutorialspoint.com/compile_vb.net_online.php> and works fine) so it should work using mono on OSX also. You are welcome to contribute compiled executable for other OS' - to simplify process there is only one file required for compilation. Although this is simple program it includes all options for reliable acquiring external IP address, because it not depends on single server but many; use -? parameter for help or -?? ... -

Changing the MAC address of the new interface will solve the problem. Changing MAC address is only temporary. Once you reboot your machine, the operating system reflects the physical MAC address burnt in your network card and not the MAC address you set. -

PHPNetemGUI

...Version 0.9 was the last actual release, whereas version 0.10 was never quite finished. This is a very old project. Development on it stopped back in 2005. Linux and PHP have moved on a long way since then. It will not work on modern systems. The good news is that a fork of the project was made back in 2012 called PHPNetemGUI2, which is also on Sourceforge and is more up to date. Also, another project on Sourceforge called "wanem" (Short for WAN Emulator) is based on the code from PHPNetemGUI. It's a Live CD based network emulator. -

Hey. At work it was necessary to create a tool to monitor servers and computers, which must always be online. For these purposes the MassPinger was created. It supports many groups and many computers in groups. CrossPlatform (for Linux compiled but untested), written in Lazarus. Sources available on homepage.

Steganoroute is a tool to send steganographed text messages to another computer over the network. The receiver must make a traceroute to the sender using the mtr program (and pressing 'd' once to switch the display mode to the continuous graph). This tool, the sender, creates several fake hops and makes them answer the ICMP packets (or not) to write the letters one by one on the mtr client screen. -

Falcon Time consists of two parts, a time server that will provide the base time for the network and an application library that is linked in to each application wishing to use the synchronized time from the time client. It is designed to work over a Local Area Network (LAN) and can synchronize time between two systems down to the time required for a ping between them or even below. It is also quick to start-up, being ready for use by the application in just a few milliseconds, rather than the hours or days required by NTP. -
