Impro-Visor® is a music notation tool for producing monophonic lead sheets, specifically intended to help the improviser. Chord symbols are used to generate backing tracks automatically. Improvisation advice exists in the form of note coloration, database of licks, and automatic lick generation from grammars. Grammars can be learned automatically from transcriptions. Styles can be edited and created by the user. Other features include generation of roadmaps for understanding keys and idiomatic chord progressions, chord voicing keyboard, MIDI and MusicXML export. Kangas Sound Editor

This kangaroo-themed program allows the user to create their own music and sound effects, effectively from scratch. There are two variants of the program: Kangas Sound Editor which requires MySQL for its database, and Kangas Sound Editor QI which does not (it uses an internal database - HSQLDB - instead). Kangas Sound Editor (QI) uses a system of boxes or cells, which are placed by the user onto a timeline using drag-and-drop, and which represent entities such as chords, repetition, and individual sounds or notes. The program's database allows the user to create and store harmonics, used for constructing melodic instruments, and anti-harmonics, which are used for constructing percussion instruments. Users can collaborate with and build on the work of others via an XML import/export facility. -

SuperBoucle is a loop based software fully controllable with any midi device. SuperBoucle is also synced with jack transport. You can use it on live performance or for composition. SuperBoucle is composed of a matrix of sample controllable with external midi device like pad. SuperBoucle will send back information to midi device (light up led). Sample will always start and stop on a beat or group of beats. You can adjust duration of sample (loop period) in beat and offset in beat. But you can also adjust sample offset in raw frame count negative or positive. Which mean sample can start before next beat (useful for reversed sample). You can record loop of any size, adjust BPM, reverse, normalize samples, ... Typical usage : * You need to control jack transport with external midi device and want a button to jump to a specified location in song. * You have some instruments patterns but you have no idea of song structure. * You make live performance with pre-recorded instruments. -

A music Style is describe using an XML and a MIDI file. You can generate an XML Style file from a MIDI file by adding markers to delimit grooves. An XML Song file describes a chord progression and sets the music style to use. JChordBox comes with several command line tools (GenerateSong, CreateStyleFromMidiFile, SongPlayer …). NEW:The application center is called SongPlayer and is a text based user interface that can play JChordBox song. SongPlayer is a MIDI Player that can loop a song, mute or soloing tracks and displays transport informations. SongPlayer is now the default jar application.
