The plugins can be loaded into a host program such as Ardour, Muse, QTractor, etc. The executables are standalone versions that contain both the samples, and the engine that plays them. -

Toadflax
graphical front-end for editing/transposing abc music files
Toadflax is a graphical tool for displaying and editing/manipulating tunes in abc notation. It exists in two forms, Toadflax built using GTK and py_toadflax built using tkinter, the python window toolkit. It allows the user to load in abc music notation files and work on each one independently. The music is displayed on-screen, without needing to use a PostScript interpreter, making it a lightweight notation viewer. The Toadflax program uses a music renderer based on yaps, while py_toadflax uses the music renderer from the abcCairo project based on abcm2ps. The source can be hand-edited or transformed in various ways using an adaptation of the abc2abc program. Perhaps the most useful feature that this provides is transposition with the ability to instantly see the effect of a transposition. -

Chord Reporter (hereafter abbreviated to CR) is a software program that displays the names of chords, as you play them (upon some MIDI controller or from a MIDI sequencer track). CR comes in two versions. There is an LV2 plugin that will run on any Linux program that loads such plugins. In that way, you can anaylze the chord progressions in your DAW's MIDI tracks. The second version is a Linux executable that runs on its own. You can directly attach your MIDI controller to this version to review the chords you're playing (as you play them). A suitable MIDI controller would be either a MIDI keyboard, a guitar equipped with a MIDI pickup such as the Fishman triple play, or even an electric guitar pickup plugged into a computer audio interface running pitch-to-MIDI software. -

abcCairo
Extend abcm2ps to support direct generation of PNG, SVG and PDF files
abcCairo is a project to create a Cairo backend for abcm2ps, enabling it to generate output in the formats supported by the Cairo library; PNG, SVG and PDF. abcm2ps is a command line program written by Jean-François Moine which converts abc music notation to music sheet in PostScript or SVG format. It is an extension of Michael Methfessel's abc2ps. This project takes out the PostScript commands to generate various musical symbols and instead replaces them with Cairo function calls that generate the same musical symbols. The Cairo graphics library is an open-source graphics library offering a similar 2D graphics model to PostScript. The Cairo library can write to a GTK canvas, allowing integration with programs using the GTK+ toolkit, or it can write to an image file in a choice of formats: PNG, SVG or PDF. This means that other programs can have access to the abcm2ps music-rendering capability without having to incorporate a PostScript interpreter. -
