tksolfege ear training program
Music ear training exercises
Tksolfege is an ear training program for learning to recognize chords, intervals, perform rhythm dictation, solfege dictation and singing solfege sequences. As you will discover, it is not an easy program to install and setup on your computer. You will also require to install the tcl/tk interpreter, fluidsynth, and at least one soundfont file. On Windows 11, you may also need to configure the operating system to show the file extension and the hidden directories. The program runs on Windows PC, Linux, and MacOS; however, I do not have a Mac computer to test it. See the web page, https://tksolfege.sourceforge.io for more details. FluidPatcher is a performance-oriented interface for FluidSynth built using wxpython to create a simple GUI that allows live editing, selecting, and playing of patches. A patch is a collection of settings such as soundfont presets for each MIDI channel, control-change/sysex messages to send when the patch is selected, and midi router or effects settings. Groups of patches are stored in banks, which are saved as human-readable and -editable YAML files. -

MIDI multi track song writing in an ASCII editor!
...Tracks and channels can be easily rendered in parallel and the powerful macro preprocessor handles the repetitious nature of music writing. Music is easily scored in any editor chromatically and then output as a MIDI file to quickly check and play the score on FluidSynth or Timidity for instance. Conventional style guitar and drum tab can be used, even conventional style notation using macros, or just one line of chromatic notation. -
