...This Python TK application calculates a good set of stars for a 3 star fix, makes all calculations similar to the FAAs Celestial Computation Sheet (see FAA doc FAA-H-8083-18). Also, you can create a PDF file that generates Pub 249 Vol 1 for any epoch you specify. The PUB249 as PDF is found under "Files". I wrote this for my aircraft bubble octant :-) It is mainly useful for air navigation as it assumes a bubble sextant but may be used for normal sextants as well. Requires Ephem and ReportLab (optional for PDF output) Not to be used for real-world navigation!

Using PHP-CLI to parse NMEA data to generate depth maps with GD. As fishing is a passion of mine,and it got me to consider using the NMEA formatted data output from my Lowrance 5-DSI Elite to generate a bathymetric map of the lake at my cottage. It is currently very crude, just a bunch of CLI scripts that record NMEA data, and the other parses the stored data and builds a depth, water temperature and sample frequency map.

There are many good programs to manage gpx tracks from my sport activities. My favorite one is gps-prune to view gps tracks on a map and make changes. However, I was missing a simple tool to store summary information about a gpx track into a database to keep track of my training efforts. That's why I created GPXReport. GPXReport is a desktop solution which is written in Java and should run on most computers.

A separate application (NavMapMaker) is available to create your own maps based on scanned or other digital maps.
