AirMapView is a view abstraction that enables interactive maps for devices with and without Google Play Services. It is built to support multiple native map providers including Google Maps V2 and soon Amazon Maps V2. If a device does not have any supported native map provider, AirMapView will fallback to a web-based map provider (currently Google Maps). Easy to integrate, it is a drop-in replacement for the Google Maps V2 package. AirMapView's original author is Nick Adams. With AirMapView, to support native Google maps using the Google Maps v2 SDK you will still need to set up the Google Maps SDK as described here. Follow all the instructions except the one about adding a map since AirMapView takes care of that for you. See the sample app for more information about how to set up the maps SDK.

This app can be useful for you if you need to send your GPS location in an SMS to any recipient that is in your contact list (or a phone number that you can enter). The sent SMS contains a link to a Google Map with the position that you have sent. The app has been developed in french and english (US).

ArgooMap is an online, map-based discussion forum, which allows participants to reference their contributions to geographic locations. Different versions of ArguMap and ArgooMap/Argoomap were developed by students supervised by Dr. Claus Rinner at Ryerson University (Toronto, Canada) with partial funding from the GEOIDE Network of Centres of Excellence and DAAD, the German Academic Exchange Service. BioSARN (Biological Species Approximate Realized Niche) refines environmental niche model output using topographic, soil and land class filtering, enhanced temporal corridor definition, niche area quantification and output to a high spatial resolution land class model. This is a Java™ Desktop MicroSoft Windows Application with a simple GUI. Preferably BioSARN should be used with 64-bit Java and a substantial RAM as the application reads input files into memory to minimize compute times.

BizGEO is an open source platform developed to provide a simple interface for geographical data collection and data storage. Convert user-saved tracks from GPS-Tracks for iPhone to KML files for Google Earth. The GPS-Tracks iPhone application is available from the App Store or from http://www.gps-tracks.com . It can save recorded GPS tracks to the iPhone storage. This little Java applet provides the functionality to convert these saved tracks to KML files, for use with Google earth. Under Windows, it uses the synced files from the iTunes phone files backup, and extracts the tracks from there. Under Linux, it uses the virtual file system provided by libgpod (which provides an iPhone-gvfs-bridge) and gvfs-fuse (which offers gvfs virtual filesystems as Linux FUSE filesystems). Please note that this app is rather rudimentary. If you run into problems, please open a ticket to describe the issue; time permitting, I'll try to fix it.
