Built with debian tools, packages, and currently based on the stable branch (Trixie). Here I try not to use software from outside of the debian repositories. For all intents and purposes, this is just debian paired with the mate desktop environment with a lot of hardware support taken care of. Debian mate doesn't force you into new conformancy. We use the mate desktop environment here; no gnome 4 or unity for anyone. With a start menu and a taskbar, you're good to go. This is just another decent desktop use operating system, but better. Take a good long stare at my packages (check readme.txt). -

This project provides a Live DVD for the multibootusb program, for installing multiple Linux Distros on to a single Pen drive and able to boot from it. This is a portable system, which does not require any installation. Video Below. This system can be started through the DVD Drive OR VirtualBox (See Below). This .iso file can also be written on to a small dedicated pen drive ( ~ 1 GB ) through this DVD's multibootusb program and further used for writing linux images on to other pen drives ( not on the same ! ) thereby making everything portable. Note: Click "+ Other Locations" on the file manager for opening local disks, while browsing for images to write through this dvd's multibootusb program. Also note that the pen drive needs to be in fat32 format for proper booting. if in other formats, for eg. ntfs, you can use the GParted program that is in this dvd, to reformat it to fat32 ( will cleanup all data ). After Booting with this Live CD, just click on the CDROM icon on the Desktop, to open its folder contents, then Right Click the zerofree.sh file and Choose the "Run in Terminal" option and then follow the instructions shown on the terminal. As you may be aware, Booting with a Live CD, requires that you need to change the Boot Order on your System / Guest BIOS, quickly on startup, by pressing either F2 OR F12 OR F10 OR an equivalent key and then change the Boot Order to boot from the CDROM first. Some Hints: Puppy Linux Live CDs show some dialogs / settings window on first startup / first shutdown. Feel free to dismiss / close them, if you do not want to make any changes, to the live cd's operation, next time, on the same system. This will not affect the zerofree's work in any way. Apart from this, using the Internet Browser, built in, would require a Free Memory of 1 GB or more, for better Performance ( as it is generally a memory intensive activity ) -

To know about multiple interface names, click the Connect icon on desktop. 6. Similarly, edit the opendhcp.ini file to match your needs 7. Shutdown & choose the Save option. This will help in copying from RAM to USB Disk 8. Restart & click the lease status desktop icon, to see your changes go live 9. Follow this model to install more services / servers. This Linux Live CD provides a Quick Way to Save Files from the Hard Drives to an External Drive for Safety and Rescue Purposes. This GUI System gets started in less than 28 seconds and is able to auto mount all drives including external ones, but excluding encrypted drives, for user access. On Startup, this system provides a dual pane file manager for copying files and folders between the panels, by way of a simple drag and drop facility. Following are the limitations of this system : 1. It does not support ENCRYPTED DRIVES at the moment. Do not use it. 2. If the external drive has a ownership aware filesystem, like for eg. ext2/3/4, then the copy happens as ROOT without any interruption. You may change it later using sudo privileges and the chown -R command. Note: To Shutdown the System properly, Click Exit Button on the Bottom of Desktop and Click OK to popup dialog. it is SAFE to REMOVE external drives, AFTER SHUTTING down the system. On Startup it prompts the user to change password, mount all filesystems available locally, start wireless network ( if wifi interface present ), start network services (samba/ssh/sftp) and present user with a console for executing various utilities i.e Text, Image, Audio, Video, Downloading etc. on their FileSystems that are mounted.
