Zepto is a minimalist JavaScript library for modern browsers with a largely jQuery-compatible API. If you use jQuery, you already know how to use Zepto. While 100% jQuery coverage is not a design goal, the APIs provided match their jQuery counterparts. The goal is to have a ~5-10k modular library that downloads and executes fast, with a familiar and versatile API, so you can concentrate on getting stuff done. Zepto is open source software and is released under the developer and business-friendly MIT license. Currently, each babel plugin in the babel ecosystem requires that you configure it individually. This is fine for things like language features but can be a frustrating overhead for libraries that allow for compile-time code transformation as an optimization. babel-plugin-macros defines a standard interface for libraries that want to use compile-time code transformation without requiring the user to add a babel plugin to their build system (other than babel-plugin-macros, which is ideally already in place). There is cpu usage/time overhead; the client needs to run the code to generate these classes every time the page loads. There is code bundle size overhead; the client needs to receive a CSS parser in order to generate these class names, and shipping this makes the amount of js the client needs to parse larger. Eval-ing out code at compile time that will be baked into the runtime code, for instance, to get a list of directories in the filesystem. -

Download the ZIP, and extract it to a folder. Inside it, the "lib" folder contains the javascript library file. You can include it in your projects as-is. For an example of how to use the library, you can find two mini samples of tic-tac-toe and chess in the examples directory. There is no API manual currently, but if you use an editor like Brackets, it will show you the list of functions. Just do not call the functions which start with "__" as those are meant for internal use by the library itself. There is a readme file included in the ZIP which shall get you started. -
