VLE is based on the discrete event specification DEVS. and it implements the DSDE formalism (A merge of Dynamic Structure DEVS, DSDEVS, with Parallel DEVS, PDEVS). DSOL is a full featured multi-formalism, distributed simulation environment developed at Delft University of Technology (The Netherlands). DSOL has support for discrete event and for continuous modeling.
