NaviServer is an extensible web server suited to create scalable websites and services. Originally based on AOLserver (http://www.aolserver.com), the ongoing development is done independently under Mozilla Public License by a core group of people that use it for their businesses and by other supporters. Adds perl capability to the web server Aolserver. A perl script can: return content, get other web pages, make SQL queries and more. Planned: full access to aolserver api (in progress: this is the base layer); and a second, easy-to-use layer on top.

nsjava is a loadable c-module which embeds a java virtual machine in aolserver. This module is being developed to support the openacs project - see http://openacs.org, but it could find general application as a web development tool.

ns_ruby is a loadable AOLserver module which embeds a Ruby interpreter. It is developed with the intention of exposing all of the features of AOLserver to Ruby, namely kernel threads, a unified cache, .adp templating, and database connection pooling.
