PROPER Optical Propagation Library
Routines for wavefront propagation in IDL, Matlab, and Python
PROPER is a library of routines for the propagation of wavefronts through an optical system using Fourier-based methods. It was developed at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory for modeling stellar coronagraphs, but it can be applied to other optical systems were diffraction propagation is of concern. It is currently available for IDL (Interactive Data Language), Matlab and Python (3.x). It includes routines for generating complex apertures and obscurations and aberrations (Zernike & PSD-defined). It includes a model of a deformable mirror for wavefront control. The routines perform near and far field propagation with automatic selection of propagators. The latest version is v3.3.1 (IDL & Matlab) and v3.3.4 (Python). Please report any bugs using the Tickets tab. -

General data-reduction tool for fiber-fed integral-field spectrographs
p3d is a general data-reduction tool for use with fiber-fed integral-field spectrographs (IFSs); although, the spectrum viewer works with spectrum data cubes of any origin. The tool is built about the proprietary software IDL (Harris/EXELIS; see http://www.harrisgeospatial.com), but can be used without any license. Most slowly running loops are implemented in parallelized C (OpenMP). -

Airborne Data Processing and Analysis

The Airborne Data Processing and Analysis (ADPAA) package is an open-source software package containing a collection of programs and scripts to process and analyze data from in-situ instruments deployed on airborne platforms. The ADPAA package was started to process data on the North Dakota Citation Research Aircraft but has been used to process data on many airborne platforms. OVATION Prime is a seasonal model of the diffuse, monoenergetic, proton, and wave aurora. The OVATION Prime model is written in IDL and was developed at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (JHU-APL) by Patrick Newell and co-workers. This current version includes updates to the retrospective and real time components, several efficiency enhancements and a user configuration as implemented by Rob Redmon and Janet Machol of NOAA. This is a community model. Users are invited to suggest and provide improvements. Documentation includes a model description and instructions for running the software. An Efficient Binary data Format
EBF, which stands for Efficient Binary Format, is a binary file format for reading and writing binary data easily. Reading writing routines are currently available in C,C++,Fortran,Java, Python, IDL, MATLAB. A program called ebftkpy which has a set of utility functions to work with the .ebf files , e.g., viewing the contents and getting a summary, is also provided. The EBF specification is designed to be concise and easy to understand to make it easier for others to write their own code if needed. It is also designed to simplify the programming of input output routines in different programming languages. In a nutshell an EBF file is a collection of data objects. Each data object is specified by a unique name and a single file can have multiple data objects. Each data object is preceded by a meta-data or header which describes the binary data associated with it. Among other things, this header allows the files to be portable across systems with different endianess. -

Colibri is a repository for source code developed in ENVI/IDL under the Open Source Initiative. It contains a wide variety of algorithms and applications which are of interest for the remote sensing community. The code is organized in a hierarchical way. At the lowest level, common code performing all kinds of basic functionality is available to the higher levels, i.e. classes and applications. Classes are object based functionalities performing more specific tasks. Both common code and classes are the building blocks for the applications which perform well delineated tasks. All common code, classes and applications are well documented. The complete set of code and documentation are available to the remote sensing community. ENVI/IDL code developers and remote sensing researchers are requested to actively contribute to this ENVI/IDL Code Library in order to obtain a solid reference of user developed applications for the remote sensing community. -
