aria2 is a lightweight multi-protocol & multi-source command-line download utility. It supports HTTP/HTTPS, FTP, SFTP, BitTorrent and Metalink. aria2 can be manipulated via built-in JSON-RPC and XML-RPC interfaces. aria2 can download a file from multiple sources/protocols and tries to utilize your maximum download bandwidth. Really speeds up your download experience. aria2 doesn’t require much memory and CPU time. When disk cache is off, the physical memory usage is typically 4MiB (normal HTTP/FTP downloads) to 9MiB (BitTorrent downloads). Faraday is an HTTP client library abstraction layer that provides a common interface over many adapters (such as Net::HTTP) and embraces the concept of Rack middleware when processing the request/response cycle. You probably don't want to use Faraday directly in your project, as it will lack an actual client library to perform requests. Instead, you probably want to have a look at Awesome Faraday for a list of available adapters. The best starting point is the Faraday Website, with its introduction and explanation. This library aims to support and is tested against the currently officially supported Ruby implementations. This means that, even without a major release, we could add or drop support for Ruby versions, following their EOL. Currently that means we support Ruby 2.6+. You can also install the faraday_middleware extension gem to access a collection of useful Faraday middleware. -

Guzzle is a PHP HTTP client that makes it easy to send HTTP requests and trivial to integrate with web services. Simple interface for building query strings, POST requests, streaming large uploads, streaming large downloads, using HTTP cookies, uploading JSON data, etc... Can send both synchronous and asynchronous requests using the same interface. Uses PSR-7 interfaces for requests, responses, and streams. This allows you to utilize other PSR-7 compatible libraries with Guzzle. Abstracts away the underlying HTTP transport, allowing you to write environment and transport agnostic code; i.e., no hard dependency on cURL, PHP streams, sockets, or non-blocking event loops. Milkman
An extensible request/response workbench
Milkman is heavily inspired by Postman. But I got sick of all those electron-based applications that need ages and loads of memory to start up. Therefore, this is a JavaFx-based workbench for crafting requests/responses. It is not limited to e.g. HTTP (or more specifically rest) requests. Due to nearly everything being a plugin, other things are possible, like database requests or GRPC, GraphQl, etc. Request-types (e.g. Http Request), request-aspects (e.g. Headers, Body, etc), editors for request aspects (e.g. table-based editors for headers), importers, whatever it is, you can extend it. The core application only handles Workspaces with Environments, Collections, Requests, and their aspects. Several plugins are provided already that extend the core application to be a replacement for postman. Crafting and Executing Http/Rest requests with json highlighting. At Monzo, Typhon forms the basis of most clients and servers in our microservices platform. Forgetting to body.Close() in a client when the body has been dealt with is a common source of resource leaks in Go programs in our experience. Typhon ensures that – unless you're doing something really weird with the body – it will be closed automatically. Marshalling and unmarshalling request bodies to structs is such a common operation that our Request and Response objects support them directly. If the operations fail, the errors are propagated automatically since that's nearly always what a server will want. -

Plow is an HTTP(S) benchmarking tool, written in Golang. It uses excellent fast HTTP instead of Go's default net/http due to its lightning-fast performance. Plow runs at specified connections (option -c) concurrently and real-time records summary statistics, histogram of execution time and calculates percentiles to display on Web UI and terminal. It can run for a set duration( option -d), for a fixed number of requests(option -n), or until Ctrl-C is interrupted. The implementation of real-time computing Histograms and Quantiles using stream-based algorithms inspired by Prometheus with low memory and CPU bounds. so it's almost no additional performance overhead for benchmarking. -

A long awaited new feature is tracing client request life cycle to figure out when and why client request spends a time waiting for connection establishment, getting server response headers etc. Now it is possible by registering special signal handlers on every request processing stage. The main change is dropping yield from support and using async/await everywhere. Farewell, Python 3.4. You often want to send some sort of data in the URL’s query string. If you were constructing the URL by hand, this data would be given as key/value pairs in the URL after a question mark, e.g. httpbin.org/get?key=val. Requests allows you to provide these arguments as a dict, using the params keyword argument. aiohttp internally performs URL canonicalization before sending request. -

http4k is a lightweight but fully-featured HTTP toolkit written in pure Kotlin that enables the serving and consuming of HTTP services in a functional and consistent way. http4k applications are just Kotlin functions. http4k consists of a lightweight core library, http4k-core, providing a base HTTP implementation and Server/Client implementations based on the JDK classes. httr: a friendly http package for R
httr is superseded: only changes necessary to keep it on CRAN will be made. We recommend using httr2 instead. The aim of httr is to provide a wrapper for the curl package, customized to the demands of modern web APIs. Functions for the most important http verbs: GET(), HEAD(), PATCH(), PUT(), DELETE() and POST(). Automatic connection sharing across requests to the same website (by default, curl handles are managed automatically), cookies are maintained across requests, and an up-to-date root-level SSL certificate store is used. Requests return a standard reponse object that captures the http status line, headers and body, along with other useful information. Support for OAuth 1.0 and 2.0 with oauth1.0_token() and oauth2.0_token(). The demo directory has eight OAuth demos: four for 1.0 (twitter, vimeo, withings and yahoo) and four for 2.0 (facebook, github, google, linkedin). OAuth credentials are automatically cached within a project.
