    Observable Plot

    Observable Plot

A concise API for exploratory data visualization

Observable Plot is a free, open-source JavaScript library to help you quickly visualize tabular data. It has a concise and (hopefully) memorable API to foster fluency — and plenty of examples to learn from and copy-paste. In the spirit of show don’t tell, below is a scatterplot of the height and weight of Olympic athletes (sourced from Matt Riggott), constructed using a dot mark. We assign columns of data (such as weight) to visual properties (such as the dot’s x), and Plot infers the rest. You can configure much more, if needed, but Plot’s goal is to help you get a meaningful visualization quickly. Plot employs a layered grammar of graphics inspired by Vega-Lite, ggplot2, Wilkinson’s Grammar of Graphics, and Bertin’s Semiology of Graphics. Plot rejects a chart typology in favor of marks, scales, and transforms. Plot can be readily extended in JavaScript, whether to define a channel, a transform, or even a custom mark.

    Pandas Profiling

    Pandas Profiling

Create HTML profiling reports from pandas DataFrame objects

pandas-profiling generates profile reports from a pandas DataFrame. The pandas df.describe() function is handy yet a little basic for exploratory data analysis. pandas-profiling extends pandas DataFrame with df.profile_report(), which automatically generates a standardized univariate and multivariate report for data understanding. High correlation warnings, based on different correlation metrics (Spearman, Pearson, Kendall, Cramér’s V, Phik). Most common categories (uppercase, lowercase, separator), scripts (Latin, Cyrillic) and blocks (ASCII, Cyrilic). File sizes, creation dates, dimensions, indication of truncated images and existance of EXIF metadata. Mostly global details about the dataset (number of records, number of variables, overall missigness and duplicates, memory footprint). Comprehensive and automatic list of potential data quality issues (high correlation, skewness, uniformity, zeros, missing values, constant values, between others).

    Pedestal

    Pedestal

    The Pedestal Server-side Libraries

Pedestal is a set of libraries that we use to build services and applications. It runs in the back end and can serve up whole HTML pages or handle API requests. There are a lot of tools in that space, so why did we build Pedestal? We had two main reasons. Pedestal is designed for APIs first. Most web app frameworks still focus on the "page model" and server-side rendering. Pedestal lets you start simple and add that if you need it. Pedestal makes it easy to create "live" applications. Applications must respond with immediate feedback even while some back-end communication goes on. Pedestal makes it easy to deliver server-sent events and asynchronous updates. Pedestal works with a huge variety of containers and deployment options. Deploy applications or microservices on unikernels, Docker containers, or JAR files. Pedestal supports Tomcat, Jetty, Immutant (with Undertow), Vert.x, nginx, and Netty.

    Pelican

    Pelican

Static site generator that supports Markdown and reST syntax

Pelican is a static site generator that requires no database or server-side logic. Chronological content (e.g., articles, blog posts) as well as static pages. Integration with external services. Site themes (created using Jinja2 templates). Publication of articles in multiple languages. Generation of Atom and RSS feeds. Code syntax highlighting via Pygments. Import existing content from WordPress, Dotclear, or RSS feeds. Fast rebuild times due to content caching and selective output writing. Extensible via a rich plugin ecosystem, Pelican Plugins. Pelican considers “articles” to be chronological content, such as posts on a blog, and thus associated with a date. The idea behind “pages” is that they are usually not temporal in nature and are used for content that does not change very often (e.g., “About” or “Contact” pages). Pelican tries to be smart enough to get the information it needs from the file system.
