USB resetting is the closest equivalent to physically unplugging and re-plugging a USB device. you might ask , How is that useful ? well the use cases will be different from user to another. In my case, it helps with accessing my slightly damaged old USB external hard drive after a mount in unix-like OSes without any i/o issues. Another one is, loop resetting my USB headset solves some weird glitching sound i constantly have while using them. Those are my special use cases. There most be more, that it can help with.

Monitors CPU Temperature from command line in Fahrenheit and Celsius and gives results of highest and lowest temperatures, and average over period of time run, then logs the data. Requires ACPI.

Scsiaddgui provides a graphical user interface for the command line program Scsiadd. Scsiadd allows to add (or remove) SCSI devices like scanners to (from) your system without having to reboot. With Scsiaddgui you can do this with a mouse-click.

GTK client for LCDproc. The screens are optimized for 20x4 alphanumeric LCD and Logitech G15 LCD. It can show CPU stats, memory stats network stats, Amarok/Audacious/Exaile track info, uptime , date, clock, disk space usage and emesene information.

FreeNAS Temperature Report is a small server program that provides temperature readings for your FreeNAS unit. Install this program in a jail on your FreeNAS, then use your web browser and go to http://jail_ip to see your temperature readings. GROWbox Supervisor System (GROWSS) is a grow box or grow cabinet environmental controller. GROWSS uses a Raspberry Pi (RPI) & Grove sensors to monitor and control the environment in your grow box or cabinet. Environmental factors such as temperature, humidity, soil moisture, & smoke (from fire) are monitored and displayed on a terminal connected to the RPI & on a mobile app. GROWSS also controls the exhaust fan and grow lights based on the time interval (ie. 12 hours on/12 hours off) & from environmental factors, temp & humidity. The environmental values are saved to the local storage every 15 minutes and when an alarm is present. Hi & low values are also saved. The LEDs on the case & the mobile application indicate if there is a high/low temp alarm, hi/low humidity alarm, soil moisture alarm, or smoke alarm. A speaker (buzzer) is activated on the case if there is a smoke alarm. 2 other LEDs indicate if either the exhaust fan is on or if the humidifier is on.

Computer Temperature Monitor is a little applet for the GNOME desktop that shows the temperature of your computer CPU and disks on screen. It allows you to log temperatures to a file. You can set alarms to notify you when a tempertature is reached.

DArmstadt MAgnetic Resonance Instrument Software

This program converts a dvd into a dvd image. Could do the same for cdroms or other media like it. Will not copy protected disks. Features one click copying with a progress bar and dvd tray eject/load. Written in python with wxPython.

DazzLed is a set of apps to control rgb-leds from you computer.

This python utility allows users on Linux to control their PC using a HID compatible USB foot pedal. Note: footcontroller does not support the new VEC Infinity in-USB3 pedal, which is not fully Linux compatible The foot pedal becomes an extra mouse or mini keyboard but footcontroller allows you to define multiple pedal sets which you can activate at the click of a button. It uses xdotool to provide you with the ability to assign commands to each pedal. Many foot pedals come with software, often MS Windows only, which allows you to program the pedals to perform some function or other, Footcontroller does away with the proprietary software and allows you to define multiple sets of commands that can be swapped in or out at the click of a button. The advantage is that now, your foot pedal can perform different tasks in multiple situations simply by selecting the appropriate pedal set, rather than having to re-program the foot pedal from scratch.
