JSettlers2 is a web-based version of the board game Settlers of Catan written in Java. This client-server system supports multiple simultaneous games between people and/or AI bots. Originally written by Robert S Thomas as an AI dissertation (http://sourceforge.net/projects/jsettlers). Infraelly 2D MMORPG engine was a project started in late 2007 by insanepotato. It was to include a client, server, map editor, animator, item creator, and designed to compile on Windows and GNU+Linux. Unfortunately, insanepotato passed away in 2011, and thus as he was the only programmer, development of the engine stopped. About a year later, PyroSamurai, took over as project lead and lead programmer. After familiarizing himself with the code insanepotato left behind, PyroSamurai has opted to rewrite all of the code in order to use the GPLv3 since insanepotato can no longer give permission for the license change. ...

The next generation MUD is an open-source, programmable, customizable MUD server written in java. It features the ability to program almost everything in the mud and does not have any default interface. The mud is programmed in javascript and features a standard library allowing manipulation of the game world. It's other key feature is the possibility for it to contain multiple independent muds in one server instance.

MUD servers hard-code a specific game system, or a specific game setting within their code, but HexMUD strives to be as generic as possible in this area, allowing each separate administrator to easily build a custom code base while also gaining access to all of the core features HexMUD provides.
