Source Han Mono, which is derived from Source Han Sans and Source Code Pro, is an OpenType/CFF Collection (OTC) that includes 70 font instances—consisting of seven weights, five languages, and two styles—and is a Pan-CJK version of Source Han Code JP. This open-source project provides all of the source files that are necessary to build this OpenType/CFF Collection by using the AFDKO makeotf, tx, sfntedit, and otf2otc tools. The 70-font OpenType/CFF Collection, SourceHanMono.ttc, which is called a Super OTC due to its large number of font instances, can be easily downloaded from the Latest Release. Please be advised that the ZIP file for the Latest Release, which includes all of the source files and other collateral, is approximately 3.25GB. To build the Super OTC from source, you need to have installed the Adobe Font Development Kit for OpenType (AFDKO). The AFDKO tools are widely used for font development today, and are part of most font editor applications.

opentype.js is an OpenType and TrueType font parser and writer. It allows you to access the letterforms of text from the browser or node.js. Once you have the shapes, you can modify them, for example by snapping them to a virtual grid. opentype.js provides you with raw access to the glyphs so you can modify them as you please. Create a bézier path out of a piece of text. Support for composite glyphs (accented letters). Support for WOFF, OTF, TTF (both with TrueType glyf and PostScript cff outlines) Support for kerning (Using GPOS or the kern table). Support for ligatures. Support for TrueType font hinting. scientifica is largely based on creep, with a number of minor tweaks to improve readability (a matter of taste of course). Most characters are just 4px wide, which is brilliant for low dpi (90-120) displays. Scientifica supports ligatures in Vim and Neovim via the conceal feature. Please read the Ligatures manual for instructions. This font is derived from the x3270 font, which, in turn, was translated from the one in Georgia Tech's 3270tool, which was itself hand-copied from a 3270 series terminal. I built it because I felt terminals deserve to be pretty. The .sfd font file contains a x3270 bitmap font that was used for guidance. The "source" file is edited using FontForge. You'll need it if you want to generate fonts for your platform. On most civilized operating systems, you can simply apt-get install fontforge, yum install fontforge or even port install fontforge. If you are running Windows, you'll probably need something like WSL or Cygwin, but, in the end, the font works correctly (with some very minor hinting issues). The easiest way to generate the font files your computer can use is to run make all (if you are running Ubuntu or Debian, make install will install them too). Using make help will offer a handy list of options.

A programming font, designed with functionality in mind, and with some wibbly-wobbly handwriting-like fuzziness that makes it unassumingly cool. Now with ligatures. Development hosted on Github. Previously known as Cosmic Sans Neue Mono. It appeared that similar names were already in use for other fonts, and that people tended to extend their instinctive hatred of Comic Sans to this very font of mine (which of course can only be loved). The font includes a bold version, with the same metrics as the regular one. Both versions include the same ranges of characters, latin letters, some accented glyphs (quite a lot), some greek letters, some arrows. It also features a good italic version, which I designed in a fashion similar to Consolas' italic version, with new glyph designs, not just an added slant.

This project provides all source files and file formats to support most typographical situations. Currently, IBM Plex Sans supports Extended Latin, Arabic, Cyrillic, Devanagari, Greek, Hebrew, Korean and Thai.

Replace Font Awesome with modern line icons. Swap Font Awesome for modern line icons in one line of code. Line Awesome is a free alternative for Font Awesome 5.11.2. It consists of ~1380 flat icons that offer complete coverage of the main Font Awesome icon set. This icon font is based off of the Icons8 Windows 10 style, which consists of over 4,000 icons, so be sure to check that out if you need more specific icons. The icon can have 3 styles: regular, solid or brand. For each style, there is a corresponding class: lar, las or lab. Wherever you desire to place an icon simply insert the following code and change the class names (laX la-XXX) to correspond to the icon of your choice. To use Line Awesome in your favorite design tool just import desired fonts to your project and you are ready to go! Note: there are 3 files, one for each style (regular, solid, brands). If you want to use all icons please import all 3 files.

A typeface made for developers. Characters remain standard in width, but the height of the lowercase is maximized. This approach keeps code lines to the length that developers expect, and it helps improve rendering since each letter occupies more pixels. Consider this in contrast to some other fonts. Consolas, for example, has slightly wider letters. However, they are still rather small, which forces you to increase the size by one point to make the font more readable. As a result, lines of code tend to run longer than expected. JetBrains Mono’s standard-width letters help keep lines to the expected length. The shape of ovals approaches that of rectangular symbols. This makes the whole pattern of the text more clear-сut. The outer sides of ovals ensure there are no additional obstacles for your eyes as they scan the text vertically. JetBrains Mono’s typeface forms are simple and free from unnecessary details. Rendered in small sizes, the text looks crisper.

This library can be used to read TrueType, OpenType (with TrueType glyphs), WOFF font files. Extract basic info (name, style, etc). Extract advanced info (horizontal metrics, glyph names, glyph shapes, etc). Make an Adobe Font Metrics (AFM) file from a font. You can find a demo GUI. This project was initiated by the need to read font files in the DOMPDF project.

MuPDF is a lightweight PDF, XPS, and E-book viewer. MuPDF consists of a software library, command line tools, and viewers for various platforms. The renderer in MuPDF is tailored for high-quality anti-aliased graphics. It renders text with metrics and spacing accurate to within fractions of a pixel for the highest fidelity in reproducing the look of a printed page on the screen. The viewer is small, fast, yet complete. It supports many document formats, such as PDF, XPS, OpenXPS, CBZ, EPUB, and FictionBook 2. You can annotate PDF documents and fill out forms with the mobile viewers (this feature is coming soon to the desktop viewer as well). The command line tools allow you to annotate, edit, and convert documents to other formats such as HTML, SVG, PDF, and CBZ. You can also write scripts to manipulate documents using Javascript. The library is written modularly in portable C, so features can be added and removed by integrators if they so desire.

Vazirmatn is a Persian/Arabic font project that started in 2015 under the name of Vazir with the idea of a new simple and legible typeface suitable for web pages and applications. Design and development have taken a long way but I hope the results are worth it. Thanks to DejaVu Sans font (v2.35) published in public domain there was a free software base to start the Vazir project. Although Vazir was completely different in typeface, still the original software was common. The design is done in Fontforge. For Latin glyphs, Vazirmatn is combined with Roboto font by a build script, however, there is also a version without Latin glyphs (Non-Latin). All weights other than Thin, Regular and Black are generated by the interpolation method by fontmake library.

In 1996 Microsoft started a font project named Core fonts for the Web. It was a freeware font project including fonts Andale Mono, Arial, Arial Black, Comic Sans MS, Courier New, Georgia, Impact, Times New Roman, Trebuchet MS, Verdana and Webdings.

Heuristica is a font, based on the “Adobe Utopia” font that was released to the TeX Users Group under a liberal license. It is distributed under the terms of SIL Open Font License.

Brahmi project aims at producing Java Input Methods and OpenType fonts for Indian languages. They are bundled with Brahmi - Word Processor which installs the fonts, Input Methods and font.properties files

The Cyrillic Modern fonts are based on the Computer Modern fonts designed in METAFONT by D. E. Knuth and released in the Type 1 format by the American Mathematical Society under the SIL Open Font License (OFL). The Cyrillic Modern fonts are intended to make the Cyrillic letters with classical shapes typical to the modern fonts. Currently, the fonts add support for the Russian language, the numero sign and quotation marks required for the Russian typesetting. Several Latin letters are changed making the Cyrillic Modern fonts closer to modern-style fonts, in particular, to Monotype Modern. So, these fonts break metric compatibility with the Computer Modern fonts. For consistency, the modified mathematical italic fonts are provided. The Paleo-Hebrew Abjad font is a constructivist idealization of the Paleo-Hebrew abjad, i.e. a script consisting only of consonants. It contains 22 Paleo-Hebrew letters, period, geresh, gershayim, and – additionally – six Phoenician numerals: 1, 2, 3, 10, 20, and 100. Since the Phoenician and Paleo-Hebrew alphabets were practically the same, this font allows you to write in Phoenician as well. The Paleo-Hebrew Abjad package contains extensive documentation as well as scripts and files useful for Linux users.
