Open Source C++ Flight Simulator Software

This project was originally designed to provide an open-source replacement for PPJoy. The product, at this point, consists of virtual joystick devices that is seen by the system as a standard joystick but its position-data is written to it by a feeder application. An existing feeder application that takes advantage of this product is SmartPropoPlus. If you are an application writer you can very easily write an application that controls a joystick (e.g. mouse-to-joystick, keyboard-to-joystick). If you are a beginner in device drivers you can take this code and enhance it to support more (or less) axes, buttons or POVs.

Founded in 1997, FlightGear is developed by a worldwide group of volunteers, brought together by a shared ambition to create the most realistic flight simulator possible that is free to use, modify and distribute. FlightGear is used all over the world by desktop flight simulator enthusiasts, for research in universities and for interactive exhibits in museums. FlightGear features more than 400 aircraft, a worldwide scenery database, a multi-player environment, detailed sky modelling, a flexible and open aircraft modelling system, varied networking options, multiple display support, a powerful scripting language and an open architecture. Best of all, being open-source, the simulator is owned by the community and everyone is encouraged to contribute.

AviTab is a plugin for the X-Plane flight simulator. It displays a tablet-like computer with a few apps in the cockpit. It is mainly used for flying in virtual reality. When flying in a simulator, one often needs to look up details in PDF charts, plane manuals, checklists or other documents. Using a PDF reader breaks the immersion because the virtual aviator either has to take off of their HMD or use other tools that can move windows into VR. AviTab tries to solve this problem by offering a PDF reader inside a native plugin for X-Plane. Using a plugin also opens possibilities for more apps inside the tablet, for example, to display information about the plane status or aid in navigation. When hovering over the edges of the tablet from a short distance, X-Plane will display green bars around the tablet. The upper bar can be used to grab the window and move it around inside the cockpit.

Project Apollo - NASSP (also known as NASSP or NCPP) is an add-on for the Orbiter space flight simulator. Project Apollo simulates the Apollo missions to Earth orbit and the Moon and the planned post-Apollo missions that never flew.

JSBSim is a multi-platform, general purpose object-oriented Flight Dynamics Model (FDM) written in C++. The FDM is essentially the physics & math model that defines the movement of an aircraft, rocket, etc., under the forces and moments applied to it using the various control mechanisms and from the forces of nature. JSBSim can be run in a standalone batch mode flight simulator (no graphical displays a.k.a. console mode) for testing and study, or integrated with the Unreal engine, FlightGear and many other simulation environments.

vasFMC is a Open-Source project, which develops an Airbus Flight Managment Computer. Previous version were developed by VAS Project group, but they stopped development in November 2011. This is the follow-on project based on the last open source version 2.09A.

This Qt5 app can send controls data to an instance of JSBSim standalone, and can read and display data from JSBSim. You can think of QtJSBSim as a simulator, with JSBSim as the flight dynamics model back end. For out-the-window visuals you can send data to FlightGear.

This multi-platform X-Plane plugin provides enhanced controls for the flight simulator. It supports Saitek x52 and x52 Pro joysticks allowing to customize additional data pages on the Multi-Functional Display (MFD) with up to four configurable buttons. Additionally, it comes with an embedded realistic FMS capable of calculating expected enroute time (considering realistic climb/descend), required fuel to load, top of climb/ descend distance, time and waypoint. The FMS continuously monitors your position and leverages X-Plane voice to brief you regarding the flight plan status, position report and delays from scheduled and expected time. Even without a supported joystick, both the FMS and a virtual MFD are made available.

Vegastrike is an old open source game , cool but unfinished . And while there is still a community , the project is in orbit in a kinda space cimetery . The game can run under Windows,Linux ,Mac . BUT : It is complicated to work with the original SVN repositery , while the admins aren't reactive . So i decided to create that hub , with a trunk based upon the 0.5.1rc1 of Vegastrike . The Flight Gear Glass Cockpit Project aims at recreating the digital displays found in modern aircraft. It is specifically modelled to integrate with FlightGear. This Project is a fork of the seemingly abandoned Open Glass Cockpit Project.

FighterPilot is a combat flight simulator in which players fly a fourth generation jet aircraft on a series of missions to eliminate enemy targets. As the pilot of a Dassault Mirage 2000, players face a range of enemies from hostile aircraft to ground based defenses. And thanks to arcade style controls, you can be flying in minutes! The single player mode takes you through a seven level campaign, challenging you with the task of eliminating a series of increasingly difficult adversaries. In multiplayer mode, a split screen view allows two players to play together on a single computer. Players can either compete against each other, or they can work cooperatively to complete levels of the campaign. Finally, a built in level editor lets you create your own custom levels.

A rough, 3D extreme flight simulator in which there's a large terrain on which one can land: as the terrain-rendering is advanced and thus terrain is large, detailed and well visible, one can do wild flights in valleys, one can experiment with landing in any casual point of a wild, colorful area including mountous, hilly and flatty areas as well. The flightmodel is primitive here, but acceptable. I will try to do a second release in which the JSBSim module will be used to provide a more realistic flight-simulation so that the wildness of a free flight and landing is more impressive. This is not a typical flight simulator, but a simulator which explicitly tries to offer a complementary experience: don't care about navigation, too realistic control and usage of the instrument-panel... but just fly a plane in a wild, open environment. NOTE: the name of the zip files corresponding to the 2 variants of the program, is "map_system_v2_wvehicles" and not "flightcraft_the_return".
