DwarFS
A fast high compression read-only file system for Linux, Windows
...DwarFS is a read-only file system with a focus on achieving very high compression ratios in particular for very redundant data. This probably doesn't sound very exciting, because if it's redundant, it should compress well. However, I found that other read-only, compressed file systems don't do a very good job at making use of this redundancy. See here for a comparison with other compressed file systems. DwarFS also doesn't compromise on speed and for my use cases, I've found it to be on par with or perform better than SquashFS. For my primary use case, DwarFS compression is an order of magnitude better than SquashFS compression, it's 6 times faster to build the file system, it's typically faster to access files on DwarFS and it uses less CPU resources. -

It should work with Android NDK, Emscripten and I even had reports of it being used on iOS (within sandboxing constraints) and with v1.5.6 there is experimental support for QNX. The support of Android NDK, Emscripten, QNX, and since 1.5.14 GNU/Hurd and Haiku is not backed up by automated testing but PRs and bug reports are welcome for those too and they are reported to work. -

In my case, it helps with accessing my slightly damaged old USB external hard drive after a mount in unix-like OSes without any i/o issues. I have written this short script to correct vowel mutation (Umlaut) errors in filenames. This errors typically occur when you copy files to a system with UTF-8 charset from a system using another charset. One typical case is when a Windows-Client transfers files via FTP on a server using UTF-8. Such errors can't be corrected using convmv. -

A small utility that allows to recover accidentally removed files as long as they are still open. The "removed" file will be restored consistently - even if it's under heavy I/O - by re-creating the link to the file's i-node in the filesystem.

This project is to produce an XML Version of LS. I have found that some languages do not report the detail of information that ls can. So it has become nessary for me to parse the output of ls which I find distasteful.
