    A program to calculate and represent the Mandelbrot set

    This project is a C++ program to calculate and represent graphically the Mandelbrot fractal set, and/or the corresponding Julia sets, according to the seed Z0 given by the user as input. The user disposes of a graphical interface to control the program and modify conveniently some parameters, like the XY-scales, the XY map area, the Julia seed for the complex series iteration of Z(n+1)=Z(n)^2+a, being Z(0)=(X0,Y0) the seed, and "a in XY" the points to be calculated. The user can enter (among other parameters) the desired convergence-radius R for the series, and/or the number of maximal iterations N for the generator-equation in Z.

The widget is an OpenGL based contour visualizer for Linux, which allow you to built 2D and 3D graph of contour and colour map for a xy regular or scattered data set. There is a good example with the topographic data of Poland with 5902 data points to introduce yourself how to use it. There is not much documentation but it is easy to use. The input data are in XYZ format, where Z is a function of XY of the form Z=F(X,Y). The data file is in plain text format.

    ncmerge

    Merge multiple irregular NetCDF grids into an equirectangular grid.

    ncmerge can combine cell-based irregular grids very quickly into a single equirectangular (Plate Carree) grid to simplify visualization workflows. It first creates a map file from coordinate grids, and then performs fast lookups when regridding data values. 3D time varying variables are supported.
