You have been struggling with SPSS databases when you needed to use excel? Well, this file (or the VBA module attached to it) will help you: you paste your CVS file format into one sheet, and the bulky strings will all your values will gently be split into one value per column by a custom excel function, The function takes into account that some values might be strings with comas that should not be split into different variables. The custom function should be usable for other types of files, it basically disaggregare a string into values separated by a standard character (by default the coma, but can be changed) and ignores separation characters that are within "string identifier" characters (by default the " ). It is a very simple excel file, you need to allow the macros to use it.

CSV Comparator is a tool for comparing files which contain CSV-Data. It was created for performance engineers to be able to have a easy way to compare data from two testruns and be able to automate the comparing process of various files with scripts. There is a command line tool as well as a user interface. In case you need to compare .xml-Files you can convert them to .csv-Files with my other project CSV Transformer. The advantages by using CSV as input and output are the following: - Many applications allow an export of its data to CSV or Excel(were it could be saved to CSV) - It is possible to pre- and postprocess the data, e.g removing version numbers before comparing - It is easy to create CSV data from logfiles and other resources by using unix tools like sed or awk - CSV can be loaded into other applications, especially Excel, were it can be formatted by macros for analyzing.

The csvdatamix project aims to randomize CSV input data files in order to conceal the original state of the data. Similar to data masking or data transformation. Also has mapping abilities to translate back to the original state of the data.

CSV for Java provides a Java API for reading/writing CSV files as well as command-line tools supporting transformations and file comparisons. Useful for both developers and testers using CSV files for their work.
