Open Source Oberon Compilers

OOC is an Oberon-2 development platform. It consists of an optimizing compiler, a number of related tools, a set of standard library modules, and a reference manual.

Oberon2 Studio is a set of tools, including, but not limited to, editor, compiler and linker for the Oberon-2 programming language on Microsoft® Windows® OS.

Oberon Portable Compiler and Linker is command-line version of the ETH Oberon PlugIn for Windows 95/98/NT/2000. Compiler, linker and kernel by Team of the Institute for Computer Systems of ETH Zuerich. Copyright 2000 ETH Zuerich Institut fuer Computersysteme, ETH Zentrum, CH-8092 Zuerich.

Here you can find both an Oberon V4 system for Linux (x86) and a collection of Oberon V4 sources for various other platforms. Oberon V4 was implemented at ETH Zurich for several platforms. Binaries can be found on their server[1] and on the one of the University of Linz[2] where Mössenböck's group did further development after he left ETH and the Group at ETH concentrated on System 3. An Oberon-2 compatible source code translator which will produce C++ or Object-C files from Oberon input files. Extensions will be included to allow infix operator definitions, enumerated types, complex numbers, strings, and OS interface modules.

Cross compiler for a dialect of Component Pascal programming language targetting at the Intel 8051-like CPUs (and support tools for such a compiler).

Oberon-2 language revival

Ofront+ is a tool that translates programs in Oberon dialects into semantically equivalent C programs. Full error analysis is performed on the Oberon input program and in case of no errors up to three files are generated as output. Ofront+ does not invoke the C compiler or linkage editor. This may be done in separate shell scripts or make files and is inherently dependent on the C compiler and linkage editor being used. Although normally not read by the user, the C code generated by Ofront+ is kept as readable as possible, nicely formatted, should not produce any C compiler error messages or warnings and is tuned for efficient execution. In fact, an Oberon program translated by Ofront+ can be expected to execute as fast and read as well as an equivalent hand-coded C program. Ofront+ is based on Ofront by Software Templ OEG. Zonnon Builder is a simple open source IDE for Zonnon Programming Language. It is a free open source environment for those Zonnon users who do not have Microsoft Visual Studio.

This compiler tries to detect pieces of code in a program that are not dependant and compile them in a way that the resulting code can be execuded in parallel on a runtime system built to support this. Only an experiment for my thesis.
