Added web search capability to generate more relevant and up-to-date answers from ChatGPT! This feature is off by default, you can turn it on in `Chat->Settings` in the admin panel, there is a record `open_web_search` in Settings, set its value to True. Add "open_registration" setting option in the admin panel to control whether user registration is enabled. You can log in to the admin panel and find this setting option under Chat->Setting. The default value of this setting is True (allow user registration). If you do not need it, please change it to False. -

GPTel is a simple, no-frills ChatGPT client for Emacs. No external dependencies, only Emacs. Also, it’s async. Interact with ChatGPT from any buffer in Emacs. ChatGPT’s responses are in Markdown or Org markup (configurable). Supports conversations (not just one-off queries) and multiple independent sessions. You can go back and edit your previous prompts, or even ChatGPT’s previous responses when continuing a conversation. These will be fed back to ChatGPT. Run M-x gptel to start or switch to the ChatGPT buffer. It will ask you for the key if you skipped the previous step. Run it with a prefix-arg to start a new session. This is a OSS standalone ChatGPT client. It is based on ChatGPT. The client works almost just like the original ChatGPT websites but it includes some additional features. I wanted to use ChatGPT but I didn't want to pay a fixed price if I have days where I barely use it. So I created this client that almost works like the original. The 20 dollar price tag on ChatGPT is a bit steep for me. I don't want to pay for a service I don't use. I also don't want to pay for a service that I use only a few times a month. Even with relatively high usage this client is much cheaper. A ChatGPT conversation can hold 4096 tokens (about 1000 words). The ChatGPT API charges 0.002$ per 1k tokens. Every message needs the entire conversation context. So if you have a long conversation with ChatGPT you pay about 0.008$ per message. ChatGPT needs to send 2500 (messages with full conversation context) a month to pay the same as the ChatGPT subscription. -

Usage of this model is not free, however it is 10x cheaper than text-davinci-003. The default model used in ChatGPTClient is now gpt-3.5-turbo. You can still set userLabel, chatGptLabel and promptPrefix (system instructions) as usual. Support for the official ChatGPT underlying model, gpt-3.5-turbo, via OpenAI's API. Replicates chat threads from the official ChatGPT website (with conversation IDs and message IDs), with persistent conversations using Keyv. Conversations are stored in memory by default, but you can optionally install a storage adapter to persist conversations to a database. -
