Open Source Linux CD Audio Software

FLAC is a free lossless compressed audio format which supports streaming and archival. The FLAC project maintains the format and provides a reference encoder/decoder and input plugins for several popular audio players.

fre:ac is a free audio converter and CD ripper for various formats and encoders. It features MP3, MP4/M4A, WMA, Ogg Vorbis, FLAC, AAC, and Bonk format support, integrates freedb/CDDB, CDText and ID3v2 tagging and is available in several languages.

Lossless compressor for multichannel 8,16 and 24 bits audio data, with the ability of password data protection. Being 'lossless' means that no data/quality is lost in the compression - when uncompressed, the data will be identical to the original.

K3b is a highly usable and very userfriendly cd writing program.

Grip is a GTK-based CD-player and CD-ripper / MP3 encoder. It has the ripping capabilities of cdparanoia built in, but can also use external rippers (such as cdda2wav). Encoder presets are provided for oggenc, bladeenc, lame, l3enc, xingmp3enc, mp3encode, gogo, flac, faac and opusenc. The main developers can be found in #grip on Libera (irc.libera.chat).

Libcddb is a library that implements the different protocols (CDDBP, HTTP) to access data on a CDDB server (http://freedb.org). It tries to be as cross-platform as possible. The initial libary will have a C API.

aTunes is a powerful, full-featured, cross-platform player and manager, with support for online radios, podcasts and CD ripping.

RipperX is a GTK program to rip CD audio tracks and encode them to the Ogg, MP3, or FLAC formats. It's goal is to be easy to use, requiring only a few mouse clicks to convert an entire album. It supports CDDB lookups for album and track information.

Qt based application for GNU/Linux to print lightScribe discs. Labels are stored in easy to understand/edit XML format. You can print CDDB data on labels (see HOWTO in documentation section).

flactag is a tagger for whole-album FLAC file with embedded CUE sheets, that retrieves data from the MusicBrainz service.

Videoder is a tool that allows you to search for any video you want using a personalized search engine that combs through different streaming video services like YouTube, Vimeo, and others, so that you can then download them directly to your Android device.

libcdaudio is an unmaintained but portable library that provides wrapper functions to audio CD drives and CDDB and CDIndex database access. cdcd is a commandline CD player using libcdaudio's CDDB and CDIndex functions.

X-CD-Roast is a flexible frontend for optical disc authoring. It combines command line tools like "cdrecord", "cdda2wav", "readcd" and "mkisofs" into a nice GTK based graphical user interface.

Kaffeine is full featured Media Player for KDE. It supports all kinds of local and network media and digital video broadcasting (DVB). At the moment Kaffeine can use xine-lib or GStreamer as backend.

Disc-cover provides an easy way to produce covers for audio CDs non-interactively. It scans audio CDs and uses information from the CDDB or CDINDEX database to build a back and front cover for the CD using LaTeX to produce high quality PDF or PS.

A portable, modular music player and converter using the BASS framework for Windows XP/.../10/11. The following input formats are supported: aac, ac3, aif, ape, dff, dsf, dts, fla, flac, kar, m4a, m4a, m4b, mac, mid, midi, mod, mp1, mp2, mp3, mp4, oga, ogg, ogg, opus, rmi, wav, wma, wv. The following output formats are supported: flac, m4a, mp3, ogg, opus, wv. Gapless and fading (with crossfading) input modes are supported. DirectSound, WASAPI and ASIO output modes are supported. 10 band equalizer with build in and custom presets. Tempo control. A high quality resampler based on the soxr library. Cue sheets can be played and split using the converter. Various archive files can be played directly.

Converts a toc generated by cdrdao (or similar) to a .cue as known from tools like EAC. Works only for CD_DA toc.

Annoyed of writing your audio cuesheets via text editor? Here comes the solution! AudioCuesheetEditor helps you editing your audio cuesheet file. With AudioCuesheetEditor you can import textfiles, edit the imported data and afterwards export to a working audio cuesheet. There are also other export posibilities like csv or xml. A suite of tools for handling CD+G karaoke disks and files. Rips CD+G disks to MP3+G files, and burns CD+G disks from MP3+G and OGG+G files.

DCue is a command line tool for automatically generating audio cue sheets (.cue files) using the massive release database from Discogs.com to find artist names, track titles, durations and other information via the Discogs API. DCue is equally compatible with Windows and Linux (and probably OS X -- though not officially supported). It has no external dependencies whatsoever. RhythmBox is an MP3/OGG player for Linux and the GNOME desktop. It features easy playlist edition, CD-ripping, MP3 walkman support, Audio CD burning and internet radio playback. Its interface is strongly based on Apple's iTunes.
