fping is a program to send ICMP echo probes to network hosts, similar to ping, but much better performing when pinging multiple hosts. fping has a very long history: Roland Schemers did publish a first version of it in 1992 and it has established itself since then as a standard tool for network diagnostics and statistics. ectpping - a cli 'ping' type utilty for the Ethernet V2.0 Configuration Testing Protocol

This program was designed to ping a number of hosts at regular time intervals. It allows users to define list of hosts which will be tested and shows detailed statistics for each of them. It's written in C and requires ncurses library.
