m23 is a free software distribution system (license: GPL), that installs (via network, starting with partitioning and formatting) and administrates (updates, adds / removes software, adds / removes scripts) clients with Debian, (X/K)Ubuntu and LinuxMint. Created in http://brainarray.mbni.med.umich.edu, and used in many groups, MBNI itself uses it to backup 150T data from one Windows file server and multiple Linux file servers daily, and each backup takes about 5 hours. Please stay tuned, our next innovation is to use those ditched LTO tapes to knit a sweater probably.

Braincracks acts like a continuous snapshoting filesystem / versioning filesystem. It monitors folders for files changes (each X seconds) and saves a copy of files when they change. It is made of 3 Bourne Shell scripts (1 bin, 1 daemon, 1 service).
