    DAR - Disk ARchive

    DAR - Disk ARchive

For full, incremental, compressed and encrypted backups or archives

DAR is a command-line backup and archiving tool that uses selective compression (not compressing already compressed files), strong encryption, may split an archive in different files of given size and provides on-fly hashing, supports differential backup with or without binary delta, ftp and sftp protocols to remote cloud storage Archive internal's catalog, allows very quick restoration even a single file from a huge, eventually sliced, compressed, encrypted archive eventually located on a remote cloud storage, by only reading/fetching the necessary data to perform the operation. Dar saves *all* UNIX inode types, takes care of hard links, sparse files as well as Extended Attributes (MacOS X file forks, Linux ACL, SELinux tags, user attributes) and some Filesystem Specific Attributes (Linux ext2/3/4, Mac OS X HFS+) more details at: http://dar.linux.free.fr/doc/Features.html

    zpaqfranz

    zpaqfranz

Zpaq compatible archiver for Win, Linux, Free/OpenBSD, Solaris, MacOS

Advanced archiver (zpaq fork) with deduplication and versioning. Never prune your backups: keeps a forever-to-ever copy (even thousands of versions) of your files, conceptually similar to Mac time machines, or zfs' snapshots, but much more efficiently. Ideal for virtual machine backup and "freezing" zfs snapshots forever. Easily handles millions of files and TBs of data. Allows rsync backups to the cloud (or NAS, or USB) with minimal data transfer, encryption and very limited bandwidth. Highest possibilities of data verification, fast, deep and even paranoid-level, with support for multithread acceleration on SSD/NVMe (real world 1GB/s+). Freeware Win GUI (PAKKA) here https://www.francocorbelli.it/pakka/build/latest No complex repository folders, just one file. Latest "hashers" (SHA-3, BLAKE3 w/HW acceleration on Win, XXH3) 15+ years of developing (2009-now). Seeing is believing! https://github.com/fcorbelli/zpaqfranz/wiki

    fpart

Sort files and pack them into partitions

Fpart is a tool that helps you sort file trees and pack them into bags (called "partitions"). It is developped in C and available under the BSD license. It splits a list of directories and file trees into a certain number of partitions, trying to produce partitions with the same size and number of files. It can also produce partitions with a given number of files or a limited size. Once generated, partitions are either printed as file lists to stdout (default) or to files. Those lists can then be used by third party programs. Fpart also includes a live mode, which allows it to crawl very large filesystems and produce partitions in live. Hooks are available to act on those partitions (e.g. immediatly start a transfer using rsync(1)) without having to wait for the filesystem traversal job to be finished. Used this way, fpart can be seen as a powerful data migration tool.

    Naeon

    Naeon

The safest way to store private data in untrusted (cloud) environments

Naeon is a secure cloud storage solution that uses unbreakable military-grade encryption and zero-knowledge privacy to protect confidential data in an untrusted environment. The data are encrypted using the AES 256-bit encryption algorithm with a randomly generated 128-character passphrase. Then, it is split into small pieces called chunks, which are obfuscated by adding random data to each chunk to make them unreadable and indecipherable to unauthorized individuals or processes. The encryption key and the concatenation order of the sharded chunks of encrypted data remain with the user, who should have a proper key management strategy in place. Naeon offers a backup tool that helps minimize the risk of data loss due to ransomware and other cyber attacks, as well as insider threats related to cyber security incidents. For more information, visit www.naeon.nl/download/docs/naeon_paper.pdf Get the latest development version here: www.naeon.nl/dev/naeon_latest.tar.gz
