Open Source BSD Automated Testing Tools

SikuliX is now continued as OculiX at https://oculix.org. The active development,,releases, documentation and community have moved there. SikuliX (and now OculiX) automates anything you see on the screen of your desktop computer. Running Windows, Mac or some Linux/Unix. It uses image recognition powered by OpenCV to identify GUI components and can act on them with mouse and keyboard actions. This is handy in cases when there is no easy access to a GUI's internals or the source code of the application or web page you want to act on. This SourceForge entry is preserved for historical reference. Please get the latest version from https://github.com/oculix-org/Oculix/releases.

Scrapy is a fast, open source, high-level framework for crawling websites and extracting structured data from these websites. Portable and written in Python, it can run on Windows, Linux, macOS and BSD. Scrapy is powerful, fast and simple, and also easily extensible. Simply write the rules to extract the data, and add new functionality if you wish without having to touch the core. Scrapy does the rest, and can be used in a number of applications. It can be used for data mining, monitoring and automated testing.

The Software Testing Automation Framework (STAF) is a framework designed to improve the level of reuse and automation in test cases and test environments. The goal of STAF is to provide a complete end-to-end automation solution for testers.

This framework supports a wide variety of model-based GUI testing techniques. The innovation lies in the architecture of GUITAR, which uses plug-ins to support flexibility and extensibility. Software developers and quality assurance engineers may use this architecture to create new toolchains, new workflows based on the toolchains, and plug in a variety of measurement tools to conduct GUI testing. More detail is presented in this publication: GUITAR: An Innovative Tool for Automated Testing of GUI-driven Software. Bao N. Nguyen, Bryan Robbins, Ishan Banerjee, and Atif Memon. Automated Software Engineering Journal. p.21, 1. 2014

The goal of this project is to develop a very simple SMTP server that responds to SMTP requests and makes received messages available for query at a later time. All useful features for a SMTP server that can be used in an automated testing suite.

This is the open source project of the now greatly enhanced Enterprise solution which has professional support, is faster, smarter and has lots more functionality. T-Plan Robot (formerly VNCRobot), is the most flexible and universal black box automated testing tools on the market. This project is the former open source version, and is now superseded by T-Plan Robot Enterprise. Robot is platform independent (Java), and thus performs well in situations where other tools may fail. Robot runs on and automates all major systems e.g. Windows, Linux and Unix, plus mobile platforms, such as IOS and Android. The product has the same functionality, look and feel regardless of OS, and your scripts are completely transferable between platforms. Utilising remote desktop technologies, together with image based testing principles, T-Plan Robot provides a human-like approach to software testing from the end-user GUI perspective. Fastest stands for 'Fast Automated Software test'. * This is a compilation of various open source tools complemented with a set of useful programs that help a Software Test Engineer perform the test automation with ease. * It can be envisioned as a toolkit that every test engineer would need! * Currently implemented in Java * Test Automation is not just about writing test cases in a particular programming language. There are a lot more activities that need to be accomplished in order to make the test automation really become automatic. * Fastest helps automate all the necessary, but difficult test automation tasks like 'Mapping the test case execution with test plan document, updating centralized test management database, reporting, setup of automated nightly regressions in Continuous Integration (CI) environments, Running code / commands on remote hosts, Interacting with Web services, browser based automation using Selenium, SSH access, Sending Email notifications

Modern software systems and application are commonly written in multiple languages, include scripting engines, and are frequently build on multiple specialized frameworks and middleware for a considerable diversity of runtime environments. The latest influencing update in development paradigm is the application of multicore processors. This projects is aimed to unify the required trace and logging output and integrate into debugging environments. The target is to provide general development, test, and production support of software environments based on multiple programming languages for distributed multicore environments.
