    ZAPH

Tools and Z80 engine for creating adventure games. (RUST)

This is an exercise in some advance programming topics using a text adventure as the central result. This originally began as a project to recreate an old BASIC text adventure, on the ZX Spectrum, using Z80. After developing a very simple byte code VM to handle the game interactions, I realised that there was an opportunity to use some more advance techniques, which in turn can lead to some PC based tools.

This is the source code for the 1994 DOS shareware game God of Thunder (Turbo C/Assembler). It is a good example of how not to code in C. I was once told it was impressive that it actually worked, so that's something. This is only the main source code here. I have released it to the public domain. Do whatever you want with it. It will not compile as-is.

A goal of this project is not only produce a small funny game. It demonstates the power of Oberon technologies, shows how a game can be written to be launched under such different platforms. Portability is a strong feature of Oberons, and I use it, - Dash has portable game code (common for defferent platforms, written in Oberon-1) and non-portable layers to a hardware platform. Dash shows the portability and cross-platform in widely look, more than mainstream solutions can propose us. ...
