basE91 is an advanced method for encoding binary data as ASCII characters. It is similar to UUencode or base64, but is more efficient. The overhead produced by basE91 depends on the input data. It amounts at most to 23% and can range down to 14%.

EtherDFS is an 'installable filesystem' TSR for DOS. It maps a drive from a remote computer (typically Linux-based) to a local drive letter, using raw ethernet frames to communicate. For years, I was using LapLink to transfer files between my various "retro" computers. It works, yes, but it's also annoyingly slow and requires constant attention. One day I thought, "Wouldn't it be amazing if all my PCs could share a common network drive, similarly to how NFS operates in the *nix world?". This day EtherDFS was born. I clearly didn't invent anything - the concept has been around almost as long as the first IBM PC, and several commercial products addressed that need in the past. I am not aware, however, of any free and open-source solution.

FakeNES is a highly portable, Open Source NES and Famicom emulator. It runs on all modern operating systems and has an actively maintained DOS port for enthusiasts. Support for phones and other mobile platforms is under development. The majority of the project is entirely original code released under the zlib/libpng license. A label maker program for 3.5" floppy disks for the Amiga written in 1989 using 100% assembly (Profimat Amiga). Back in those days, it was all about floppy disks. Of course, the floppies came with some stickers to write down the content of the disk but I wanted to use my shiny new 24-pin printer so I wrote this little utility. It worked best using some "Zweckform" labels back then. I can't tell if there are still available today. You can add an image from a selection of images shown here to enhance the overall look of your floppies. Apparently, the program works still nicely inside WinUAE and even the printing works if you setup the printer emulation (I recommend the EpsonQ 48 dot printer).
