Helper app for VMware .vmdk files differential backup
... make a hash file to track the block changes. You keep the hash file (which is small enough) and every day make a differential file from vmdk file that you keep on the backup storage. Profit! For the recovery BinDiff merges the latest available diff file with the initial vmdk file and gives you the full vmdk on that day. You can also make/check md5 checksums if necessary. Note that BinDiff tracks 4kB block changes only (VMware vmdk does it and HyperV I guess too). -

makes a "big" gzip file
gzzzzzz enlarges a given file 6 times and writes it as a gzip file. It therefor can be "decompressed" (which makes it 6 times smaller) with the standard gzip. This shows that gzip (and deflate and any compression tool that uses one of them) but also, as I expect, any other compression format can be used to augment data significantly. -

I created this project after becoming frustrated with the bulkiness and price of backup solutions available. I have become distracted with other projects, including porting over a concept of this project to C++. There is a lot of good code here and plenty more to do.
