This application is intended to be a tool for easy, almost automatic, creation and calculation of gear transmission finite element models. It consists of a geometry and mesh generator based on GMSH and a finite element model based on GETFEM++.

A python gear generator that serves as CAE/CAD-preprocessor for involute gears based on pythonOCC. Allows one to program fablab (factory and/or laboratory) in the same way as we program computer. Imagine commands like: "dim screw12 as new screw" or "mold(form_piston_081212, brass)" or ''gear(3)=lasercut(steel2,"biggear.gc")". This approach will let us program highly automated and self-deploying or even self-replicating factories. I am more engineer than programmer and just beginner in python. So it looks like community help will be needed :)

The aim of this project is to develop a gear design program, which will be able to utilise any known contemporary tooth profile and perform strength calculations on it. A subsequent goal will be to include a life prediction functionality.
