APC makes various Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS) under the name "BackUPS". By default, these products beep when the mains power is interrupted. This beeping can be very annoying to some users. APC provides a method of disabling the beep, but this is achieved in Windows only and is subject to being able to successfully install their Power Chute software.
